1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo turn on broadcasting on a Samsung Smart TV, switch the source to TV or live TV, connect an antenna to ANT IN for over-the-air channels, then run Auto Program or Auto Tuning. Broadcasting settings may be unavailable while an HDMI device, cable or satellite box, or Smart Hub app is active.
Before you start a channel scan
- For over-the-air channels: Connect the antenna’s coaxial cable to the TV’s ANT IN port. If your setup uses a One Connect Box, connect it to that box’s ANT IN port instead.
- Use the TV input: Change the source to TV or live TV—not an HDMI input, external receiver, or Smart Hub app.
- Check the channel-list warning: Auto Program may delete or replace the saved channel list. Samsung India advises against running it when the TV is connected to a cable or satellite box. If you watch through a receiver, use that device’s input rather than scanning channels on the TV.
Samsung’s US instructions distinguish Air for antenna reception from Cable for cable service. A cable box is a separate connected device; follow the options shown for your actual service and TV model. Samsung US: Scan for channels from an antenna or cable box and Samsung India: Set available channels describe these distinctions and the channel-list warning.

How to scan for channels on a Samsung Smart TV
- Connect the antenna to ANT IN if you want over-the-air channels.
- Set the TV source to TV or live TV.
- Open Settings or All Settings, then look for Broadcasting. On some models, the path is Settings > General & Privacy > Broadcasting.
- Select Auto Program or Auto Tuning, then choose Start.
- For an antenna in the US instructions, select Air. Choose another option only if it matches your service and the on-screen instructions.
- Let the scan finish, then close the scan screen and check the available channels.
Menu names and paths differ by model, software version, and region. Samsung describes the Auto Tuning flow and live-TV requirement in its Gulf-region channel setup guide; your TV may use different labels.
Why Broadcasting is greyed out or missing
The most common issue is that the TV is not on its TV/live-TV source. Broadcasting controls may not appear when you are watching through a cable or satellite box, recording, or using a Smart Hub app. Leave the app or external-device screen and select the TV source.

What to check if channels are missing after the scan
- Make sure the coaxial cable is secure at both the antenna and the TV’s ANT IN port (or the One Connect Box port).
- Confirm that you scanned using the option appropriate for your service; use Air for an antenna where that option is offered.
- Check that you are viewing the TV input rather than an external receiver.
- Consider whether an antenna could improve reception at your installation. Samsung says an antenna can help the TV find more channels and improve signal quality, but the available signal depends on the location. Its guidance does not promise a particular channel count or reception result.
