Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD (USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 model) and Crucial X10 Pro are two alternatives worth comparing with the Samsung T9. Their manufacturers advertise similar high-end transfer speeds, but those figures are not results from a shared test. Before choosing, check whether your computer supports USB 3.2 Gen 2×2: a drive’s headline speed depends on the connection available on the host device.
Samsung T9 alternatives at a glance
| Drive | Manufacturer-stated speed and interface | Protection stated in cited materials | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung T9 | Up to 2,000 MB/s sequential read and write; USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20 Gbps), according to Samsung’s 2023 announcement and its T9 product page. | Drop resistance up to 3 meters, according to Samsung product materials. Samsung’s announcement attributes the claim to an internal controlled free-fall shock test. Samsung lists a 5-year limited warranty. | Use it as the reference point, then check host compatibility, capacity, and warranty terms for your region. |
| SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD (USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 model) | Up to 2,000 MB/s; the cited UK Gen 2×2 listing specifies USB 3.2 Gen 2×2. SanDisk’s other product listing also advertises up to 2,000 MB/s. | Not stated in the cited evidence. | SanDisk listings include different product identifiers. Confirm the exact model or SKU and local warranty before buying. |
| Crucial X10 Pro | Up to 2,100 MB/s sequential read, according to Crucial’s product flyer. | Crucial states IP55 water and dust resistance and drop resistance up to 2 meters. | Check that its stated features and the exact capacity meet your needs; the speed is a manufacturer claim, not a head-to-head result. |
These specifications make the SanDisk and Crucial models reasonable candidates to compare, not proven performance winners. No same-method benchmark across the three drives is established here, and advertised maximums from different manufacturers should not be treated as directly comparable test results.

Check your computer’s connection before choosing
The T9 and the cited SanDisk Gen 2×2 model use USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, a 20 Gbps interface. Samsung describes the T9 as using two 10 Gbps lanes. That interface capability only helps when the computer and connection support the relevant standard; the drive’s advertised maximum does not guarantee that speed on every setup.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Look up the specifications for the computer’s USB port, rather than relying on the connector’s shape alone.
- Confirm the exact drive model and interface. SanDisk’s product pages show why checking the SKU matters.
- Consider the full operating setup, including the cable and the device’s supported connection, before paying extra for a peak-speed claim.
Samsung says the T9’s interface can provide faster transfers for high-resolution video and large files, including creator workloads. That describes the intended benefit of the interface; it is not a guarantee of a particular transfer time in your workflow.

- Get NVMe solid state performance with up to 1050MB/s read and 1000MB/s write speeds in a portable, high-capacity drive(1) (Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device & other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes.)
- Up to 3-meter drop protection and IP65 water and dust resistance mean this tough drive can take a beating(3) (Previously rated for 2-meter drop protection and IP55 rating. Now qualified for the higher, stated specs.)
- Use the handy carabiner loop to secure it to your belt loop or backpack for extra peace of mind.
- Help keep private content private with the included password protection featuring 256‐bit AES hardware encryption.(3)
- Easily manage files and automatically free up space with the SanDisk Memory Zone app.(5). Non-Operating Temperature -20°C to 85°C
Which alternative fits your priorities?
Choose the SanDisk Extreme PRO if you want a direct Gen 2×2 comparison
The cited Gen 2×2 listing advertises up to 2,000 MB/s, matching the T9’s stated maximum. Confirm that you are looking at the Gen 2×2 model, not another product identifier, and check the warranty that applies in your market. The cited materials do not establish protection specifications for this SanDisk model.
Consider the Crucial X10 Pro if IP55 is relevant
Crucial states that the X10 Pro has IP55 water and dust resistance and drop resistance up to 2 meters. Its flyer lists up to 2,100 MB/s sequential read. Those are Crucial’s product claims, not evidence that it is faster or more durable than the T9 in a controlled comparison. IP55 and drop-resistance claims also do not make a drive suitable for every exposure or impact.

- Solid state performance with up to 800MB/s read speeds in a portable drive. (Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, interface, usage conditions and other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes.)
- Back up your content and memories on a storage solution that fits seamlessly into your mobile lifestyle.
- Take it with you on your adventures—up to two-meter drop protection means this durable drive can take a beating. (Based on internal testing.)
- Secure it to your belt loop or backpack for extra peace of mind thanks to the tough rubber hook.

Keep the T9 in the comparison if its stated protection and warranty matter
Samsung lists up to 3 meters of drop resistance and a 5-year limited warranty for the T9. The drop claim comes from Samsung product materials, with the company’s 2023 announcement describing an internal controlled free-fall shock test. Warranty coverage and conditions can vary by market; consult Samsung’s SSD warranty information and the applicable local terms.

The T9 and SanDisk figures are advertised maximums of up to 2,000 MB/s; Crucial’s figure is up to 2,100 MB/s sequential read. They are manufacturer specifications, not a shared measurement under identical conditions. The X10 Pro figure specifically names sequential read, while Samsung’s T9 materials state sequential read and write. Do not conclude that the X10 Pro is the fastest overall from those numbers alone.

- Capacity Display Variance: 500GB external ssd often appears as around 465GB on Windows. MacOS can show full 500 GB capacity. This is binary calculation difference and doesn’t affect SSD hard drive actual physical storage
- 1050 MB/s Speed: Instantly access to your files with blazing-fast 10Gbps external SSD read up to 1050MB/s and write up to 1000MB/s. LED Light indicates USB SSD instant activity
- Data Security: Solid state drives S.M.A.R.T. health diagnostics and adaptive TRIM optimizing data block management ensures consistent write speeds and extends the longevity of the portable SSD
- USB-C & USB-A Cable: Both cables featuring rapid USB 3.2 Gen2, this USB SSD effortlessly bridges devices, enabling seamless cross-platform file transfers and backup between computers, smartphones, tablets and iPhone
- Always Fast: No slowdowns for large file transfers. With SLC caching (25% of current available capacity allocated as high-speed cache), this external SSD delivers steady 10Gbps for transfers within the cache capacity
Actual results depend on whether the host connection supports the drive’s interface and on the workload and setup. If you need a measured ranking for a particular computer or editing task, look for independent testing that compares the exact models under the same conditions; the figures above cannot supply that ranking.

Before buying, verify the capacity, model identifier, supported interface, regional warranty, and current price for the listing you intend to purchase. The cited product materials do not establish comparable warranty terms for SanDisk and Crucial, nor do they establish live prices or stock. Samsung’s 5-year limited warranty is a stated term for the T9, not a basis for assuming the other drives have the same coverage.
