Samsung has made One UI 8, based on Android 16, available for the Galaxy S22 series. Android 16 is the final major Android-version upgrade covered by Samsung’s four-generation upgrade commitment for the S22; security updates are separate and may continue, with timing varying by model, country, and carrier.
What Android 16 brings to the Galaxy S22
On the Galaxy S22, Android 16 arrives as Samsung One UI 8. Samsung’s US update listing describes features including sticky notes in Samsung Notes, changes to Quick Share, filtering downloaded files by app in My Files, and a redesigned Samsung Internet. Features may differ by model, country, and service provider.
When will the Galaxy S22 get Android 16?
The update is available for S22-family devices, but rollout timing is not universal. Samsung’s Mexico schedule listed the S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra in its November 2025 released group, while Samsung’s US firmware record for the SM-S901U lists an Android 16 build released September 4, 2026. These records do not establish availability for every carrier or regional variant.

Is Android 16 the last update for Galaxy S22?
It is the S22 series’ last major Android-version upgrade under Samsung’s announced policy. Samsung included the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra in its commitment to provide up to four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades. Since the S22 generation launched with Android 12, those major versions are Android 13, 14, 15, and 16.
