Yes—Samsung still offers phones with microSD card slots, but the feature is concentrated in selected Galaxy A models rather than its flagship lines. The newest slot-equipped option in Samsung’s published specifications is the Galaxy A27 5G, which supports cards up to 2 TB. The Galaxy A17 5G and A26 5G are also documented with support up to 2 TB. Availability and specifications can vary by market and exact model, so check the local listing before buying.
Which current Samsung phones have a microSD slot?
Samsung’s current and recent Galaxy A models are the practical place to look. Samsung’s June 25, 2026 announcement says the Galaxy A27 5G would be available in select markets from July 3, 2026, and lists microSD support up to 2 TB. Samsung’s April 2026 Galaxy A-series overview also identifies the A17 5G as expandable up to 2 TB. Samsung Germany’s support guidance lists the A26 5G at up to 2 TB.

Consider the A17 5G or A26 5G for other 2 TB-capable choices
Samsung’s published specifications identify both as supporting microSD up to 2 TB. Since configurations and availability can vary, compare the local listing’s built-in storage and exact model number rather than assuming every market receives the same version. For the A26 5G, Samsung India states six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates; those support terms are specific to Samsung’s India product information and should not be generalized to every regional variant.
Look at older models only if you can verify the exact listing
The A55 and A25 5G show that some preceding A-series phones included slots, but the cited Samsung material does not establish current stock. If considering one, confirm that it is new or used as represented, that the precise regional variant has the slot, and that its support period suits your needs.

Do not assume every Galaxy A phone—or flagship—has a slot
Samsung’s Germany support guidance says the Galaxy A36 and A56, introduced in 2025, do not have microSD slots. It identifies selected entry-level A-series models as the remaining choices. The presence of a slot therefore cannot be inferred from the Galaxy A name alone. The same caution applies when shopping Samsung’s Galaxy S and Z families: the feature is not universal across the range, and the cited current documentation does not establish these as microSD options.

Samsung’s launch announcements qualify availability by market and, in some cases, carrier. Before ordering, check the product page or manual for the exact model number being sold where you live. A listing that merely says “Galaxy A” is not enough to verify expandable storage.

How to choose a card for a Samsung phone
- Confirm the phone’s exact model. Find its regional product specification page or user manual, then verify that it has a microSD slot and note the model-specific maximum capacity.
- Match card speed to your use. Samsung Germany recommends a U3/V30-rated card or faster for 4K video recording. For other uses, follow the phone and card manufacturers’ compatibility guidance.
- Check what is included. Do not assume a card comes with the phone. Samsung’s U.S. A25 5G specification sheet explicitly says its card is sold separately; packaging for other models should be checked locally.
- Choose capacity based on your files and budget. The phone’s stated ceiling is a maximum supported size, not a recommended amount or a guarantee for every card. Confirm the card’s capacity and compatibility before purchase.
What a microSD slot does—and does not—solve
A card provides additional space for supported files and media, but it does not change the phone’s built-in storage configuration. That distinction matters if you are choosing between internal-storage variants: assess the built-in capacity you need as well as the card ceiling. Samsung’s cited specifications establish expandability, but do not establish that every app, file type, or feature can be moved to or used from a card.
There is no single best Samsung phone with expandable storage for every buyer. If having a card slot is essential, prioritize a locally sold model whose official specifications confirm the slot—then compare its built-in storage, other phone features, and software support for your market.
