On Samsung One UI 9, the supported way to change fonts without root is to download one through Galaxy Store in Settings. Using your own TTF or OTF file is a separate, unofficial workaround: recent tools and guides describe ways to do it on some devices, but compatibility depends on your model and software build and may change with updates.
Use Samsung’s supported Galaxy Store method
- Open Settings and search for Font size and style.
- Tap Font style, then Download fonts. Galaxy Store opens.
- Install a font from the store, return to the Font style settings, and select it to apply it.
Samsung’s US support article gives the Settings-search route, while its Gulf support page describes the menu path as Display > Font size and style > Font style > Download Fonts. Labels may vary by device, software version, or region; use Settings search if the menu differs. See Samsung Support’s font settings instructions and Samsung Gulf’s instructions.

Samsung’s controls also include font size, bold text, and high-contrast fonts. Very large text may work only in certain apps, and some third-party apps may not support custom fonts. Do not assume every app, keyboard, or embedded web view will display the selected font identically.

Want to install your own TTF or OTF file?
Importing a font file is not the same as downloading a Galaxy Store font. It requires third-party tooling, and Samsung does not document it as a supported One UI feature. SamFonts describes a utility for creating, signing, and installing custom TTF/OTF font packages, including a Shizuku-based approach. A September 2026 AndroidSage guide also reports a no-root route for One UI 9 using recent SamFonts or zFont versions. These sources describe workarounds, not guaranteed compatibility or Samsung endorsement.

Before trying one, check the utility’s current official instructions for your exact Galaxy model, One UI build, Android version, and security patch. Review the permissions it requests and stop if you do not understand or trust them. Do not bypass system warnings. Neither an app’s compatibility claims nor a guide establishes that the method will work on every device or remain functional after an update.
SamFonts’ release page listed version 4.3.1, released October 3, 2026, and noted a fix for a Knox approval failure. That is a dated release detail, not a promise that the version is right for every device; consult the project’s current instructions and release information before proceeding: SamFonts project and SamFonts releases. zFont’s maintainer says basic font changing does not require root on supported brands and versions and that users can import fonts, but that claim does not confirm support for a particular One UI 9 model or patch. Why older font tutorials may no longer work
Methods that worked on an earlier build can stop working after a software or security update. SamMobile reported on March 31, 2026, that Samsung closed a loophole used by unauthorized font apps after users said zFont-installed fonts stopped working on One UI 8.5 beta 8 and builds carrying the March 2026 security patch. This does not establish what will work on every One UI 9 build, but it is a concrete reason to check a guide’s date and the software version it covers rather than following old steps blindly. If the font does not appear or stops applying
- Galaxy Store font missing from the list: return to Settings > Font size and style > Font style after installation and check the list. If your menus differ, search Settings for Font size and style.
- Imported font fails: verify that the utility’s current instructions cover your exact model, One UI build, Android version, and security patch. Do not assume instructions for an older release still apply.
- Only some apps change: app-specific font support varies; Samsung notes that some third-party apps may not support custom fonts, and very large text may be limited to certain apps.
- It stops working after an update: re-check the utility’s official release notes and instructions for the updated build. Do not repeat an older workaround or bypass a new warning just to force installation.
