You can uninstall Samsung Internet only if your Galaxy device offers an Uninstall button for it. If it does not, you may be able to disable or hide the app, or set another installed browser to open links. Hiding is not deletion: the app remains on your device.
Check whether Samsung Internet can be uninstalled
- Open Settings > Apps > Samsung Internet.
- Check the available actions. If you see Uninstall, tap it and confirm the on-screen prompt.
- If Uninstall is not offered, check whether the screen provides Disable. If neither option is available, use the hide or default-browser steps below.
Samsung says some pre-installed apps can be deleted, while others cannot. Its general guidance does not establish whether Samsung Internet is uninstallable on every Galaxy model, so the app-info screen on your device is the relevant check. Samsung also notes that menu names, paths, and layouts can vary by device model and software or app version. Follow the labels displayed on your device. If you cannot uninstall it, choose what you want to change
Disable the app, if that option is available
Tap Disable on the Samsung Internet app-info screen and follow any confirmation prompt. Samsung says disabling is available only for some pre-installed apps. On devices that offer it, disabling stops the app’s functions and removes it from the Home and Apps screens; it is not the same as uninstalling it.
Hide the app icon
Use your device’s Home screen settings to open the option for hiding apps, select Samsung Internet, and apply the change. The exact menu labels can vary, so follow the wording shown on your Galaxy device. Hiding removes the icon from the Home and Apps screens but leaves Samsung Internet installed. Make another browser open links
- Install the browser you want to use, if it is not already on your device.
- Open Settings > Apps > Choose default apps > Browser app.
- Select the installed browser you want as the default.
This changes where links open; it does not uninstall Samsung Internet. If the menu path differs on your device, look in Apps settings for the default-apps or browser-app setting. Samsung US: Manage apps on your Galaxy phone or tablet
If the issue is browsing behavior, not the icon
Hiding or disabling is not the only way to address unwanted behavior. You can review Samsung Internet’s permissions through Settings > Apps, or check its content-blocker settings. These change access or browsing behavior; they do not delete the app. Samsung documents these protections in its Galaxy malware-protection guidance.
