For most people who carry and use a foldable all day, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is easier to handle while closed: it is lighter and thinner than the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Samsung also has the edge for demanding multitasking and gaming. The Pixel is the better fit if you prioritize its IP68 dust-and-water rating, Google’s Pixel software and seven-year update promise, or built-in Qi2 magnetic charging. The right choice depends on which everyday task matters most to you.

Which is more comfortable to carry and use closed?
The Fold7 has the clearest practical advantage in folded-phone mode. Samsung lists its weight as 215 g and folded thickness as 8.9 mm; Tech Advisor gives the Pixel 10 Pro Fold as 258 g and 10.8 mm folded. That is a 43 g weight difference and 1.9 mm in thickness—potentially noticeable if you hold the phone for long stretches or carry it in a pocket all day. These figures describe the 2025 models; Samsung’s measurements come from its US specification sheet.

Both phones have a cover display that can handle many tasks without opening the device. Samsung’s is 6.5 inches diagonally and Google’s is 6.4 inches, but diagonal measurement does not capture usable shape. Tech Advisor’s reviewer found Samsung’s less-rounded display corners made it feel larger in use. How easy either screen is to type on or reach with one hand depends on your grip and typing habits, so try them in person if the cover screen will be your main interface.

Which works better when opened for multitasking?
Samsung is the stronger choice if you regularly keep several tasks in motion on the inner screen or expect sustained performance for games and heavier editing. Samsung describes One UI 8 as designed for large-screen multitasking. That is a manufacturer description rather than a finding that its layout suits every user, but it aligns with the Fold7’s use case for people who want to work across apps.

In PhoneArena’s Geekbench 6 comparison, the Fold7 scored 2,948 single-core and 9,365 multi-core; the Pixel 10 Pro Fold scored 2,320 and 6,288, respectively. Those are that outlet’s results under its testing protocol, not a prediction that every app will open or respond by the same margin. For ordinary browsing, messaging and reading, software familiarity and screen layout may matter more than a benchmark score.
Which gives more confidence around dust, water and hinge wear?
Google specifies an IP68 rating for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, while Samsung specifies IP48 for the Fold7. The Pixel therefore has the stronger published dust-and-water protection rating, which may matter if your phone is often exposed to dusty surroundings or wet conditions. An IP rating is not a promise against all damage, and neither phone should be treated as waterproof or indestructible.

Google says the Pixel’s gearless hinge is “twice as durable” as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold hinge and claims it can withstand over 10 years of folding. Samsung’s US Fold7 specification sheet lists a 200,000-fold test claim, described there as approximately 10 years of use. These are company claims and test descriptions, not independent evidence of how long every phone will last in daily use.
Which software and charging conveniences matter more?
The Pixel makes sense if you prefer Google’s Pixel environment and want Google’s stated update commitment: seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates. Google lists Android 16 at launch on its product specification page. Samsung’s case is different: One UI 8 emphasizes large-screen multitasking, making it a natural fit for users who want to use the inner display as a work surface. Ease is subjective here; consider which interface you already know and how you plan to use the larger screen.

The Pixel also has built-in Qi2/Pixelsnap magnetic charging, which can simplify alignment with compatible magnetic chargers or stands. Check that an accessory explicitly supports the phone and the relevant charging standard before buying; a generic magnetic attachment does not establish charging compatibility.

There is no single test result that settles battery life for every workload. TechRadar’s Future Labs battery rundown reported 12 hours 16 minutes for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and 10 hours 44 minutes for the Fold7. PhoneArena’s results varied by workload: its web-browsing test favored the Pixel, while its gaming endurance test favored Samsung. These are different outlets’ test results under their respective protocols, so the figures should not be treated as a head-to-head measurement on one shared test.

Which one should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold7 if
- You want the lighter, thinner phone when it is folded.
- You expect to use split-screen or multi-window features often.
- You do demanding gaming or heavier editing and value the Fold7’s stronger reported Geekbench 6 results.
Choose the Pixel 10 Pro Fold if
- You put more weight on its IP68 rating than the Fold7’s IP48 rating.
- You prefer Google’s Pixel software and value Google’s seven-year update promise.
- You want built-in Qi2/Pixelsnap magnetic charging and are willing to check accessory compatibility.
If cover-screen typing or one-handed reach will shape your decision, try both phones closed in a store rather than choosing by diagonal size alone. Compare current local prices for the same storage configuration before judging value: the available product pages do not establish matched current prices, and promotions or trade-ins can change the comparison.
