If your Samsung Galaxy Tab E asks for Google Account verification after a reset, sign in with the Google Account that was on the tablet before it was reset. This is Factory Reset Protection (FRP), an anti-theft feature—not a screen lock you can safely clear with another reset. If you cannot sign in, recover the account or contact an authorised Samsung service centre with proof of purchase.
Why your Galaxy Tab E is asking for verification
Factory Reset Protection can require the Google Account previously associated with a device when it is reset using its hardware buttons. Samsung describes FRP as protection against unauthorised use after a reset without permission. The Galaxy Tab E manual says that adding a Google Account automatically enables FRP and that setup after a reset requires the associated account. A different Google Account will not satisfy that requirement.

The verification screen does not mean the tablet needs another factory reset. A reset erases locally stored information and files, and it does not remove the account association. Google explains that security information is required to restore data after a reset in its Android factory-reset guidance; the Galaxy Tab E manual also warns about data loss.
Choose the recovery route that matches what you know
| What you know or have | Next step |
|---|---|
| You know the Google Account previously used on the tablet and its password | Enter that account during tablet setup. |
| You know the email address but forgot the password | Use Google Account recovery, then allow time for the new password to work on the tablet. |
| You cannot identify or recover the associated account | Ask Samsung about an authorised service centre and bring proof of purchase; requirements and service options vary by country. |
| The tablet belonged to someone else | Contact the previous owner or seller to resolve the account association, or pursue a return through the purchase channel. |
Sign in with the account that was on the tablet
- Connect the tablet to Wi-Fi during setup.
- At Google Account verification, enter the email address and password for the Google Account that was associated with the Tab E before the reset.
- Follow the remaining setup prompts once verification succeeds.
Google recommends confirming the associated account’s username and password on another device before resetting an Android device. Its factory-reset instructions include steps aimed at newer Android versions, so use them for the account-preparation advice rather than assuming every on-screen step applies to this older tablet.

If you forgot the password, recover the Google Account
- On another phone, tablet, or computer, open Google Account recovery and follow the prompts for the account previously used on the Tab E.
- After regaining access or changing the password, wait before trying it on the tablet. Samsung UK says activation after a password reset may take 24 hours or longer.
- Try the recovered credentials during setup after that interval. If verification still fails, confirm that you recovered the correct account and contact Samsung support for your region.
Google separately recommends waiting 24 hours after a recent password reset before performing a factory reset. That guidance is not a promise that every account or device will be ready at exactly 24 hours; Samsung’s longer activation warning is the more relevant expectation for unlocking a Galaxy device. See Samsung UK’s factory-reset and FRP guidance and Google Android Help.
If you cannot recover any account details
Samsung UK advises owners who cannot get past FRP to take or send the device, together with proof of purchase, to an authorised Samsung Service Centre. Its support page states: “If you want to remove FRP but you are locked out of your device, you can bring your device, along with proof of purchase, to an authorised Samsung Service Centre.” Confirm the available service and required documents with Samsung support in your country; the UK page does not establish identical procedures worldwide.

If you bought the tablet second-hand, ask the previous owner or seller to resolve the Google Account association. If they cannot, use the return or dispute process offered by the seller or marketplace. Do not share your Google password with a seller or technician.

Resetting again does not prove ownership or remove the requirement to verify the previously associated Google Account. It can erase remaining local data without resolving the lock. The official recovery routes are account sign-in, Google Account recovery, and Samsung’s ownership-verification service route; there is no verified bypass method established here. Avoid third-party tools or instructions that claim to defeat FRP, since they are not supported recovery paths and may put your data or device at risk.

Prevent FRP problems before resetting or passing on a working tablet
When you can still access the tablet, remove its Google Account before carrying out a factory reset or transferring it. Samsung’s illustrated account-removal steps apply to Android Nougat or later; its guidance also lists alternate Settings routes for older Android versions. The exact menu names depend on the Tab E variant and software version, so consult the applicable instructions on Samsung’s support page rather than assuming one Settings path fits every Tab E.
