Which phone is better for size and display?
Choose the Galaxy S26 if you want the more compact and lighter phone in these listed variants: it is 6.3 inches and 167g, compared with the Xiaomi 17T’s 6.59 inches and 200g. Samsung notes that weight can vary by market, and Xiaomi’s weight is an internal-lab figure.

The Xiaomi 17T has the larger screen and higher stated resolution: 1.5K versus FHD+. Both support refresh rates up to 120Hz, though Samsung specifies adaptive 1–120Hz. Those figures describe size and specifications; they do not establish which display looks better in real use.

How do their processors and storage compare?
The Xiaomi 17T uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500-Ultra. Samsung lists either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy or Exynos 2600 for the Galaxy S26, depending on market, so check the exact regional model before buying. The specifications available here do not establish a head-to-head benchmark winner.
Both phones are listed with 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage in the cited specifications. Compare the same storage tier when checking prices.

Which phone has the better camera?
The camera hardware takes different approaches. Samsung lists a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Xiaomi lists a 50MP periscope telephoto with optical image stabilization at a stated 115mm-equivalent focal length, alongside a 50MP OIS main camera. Both also have a 12MP ultra-wide camera; Xiaomi’s listed main camera is 50MP.

Megapixels, stabilization and focal length do not prove which phone takes better photos. A reliable image-quality verdict would require comparable testing across conditions such as daylight, low light and zoom ranges; the cited specifications alone cannot answer that.

Battery capacity and charging: what the numbers mean
Samsung’s US announcement lists a 5,000mAh typical battery for the Galaxy S26. Xiaomi lists 6,500mAh typical for the 17T, along with 67W HyperCharge, support for up to 50W PPS and 22.5W wired reverse charging. These are manufacturer capacity and charging specifications, not a comparable battery-life test. Samsung says battery life depends on usage and network conditions.
Xiaomi’s global specification page says a power adapter is not included in the box and cautions that package contents can vary by region. Check the contents for the specific market and retailer before assuming a charger is supplied.

Water resistance and software support
Both phones carry an IP68 rating, but that does not guarantee immunity from liquid damage. Samsung says resistance may diminish through wear; Xiaomi qualifies its rating with specific laboratory conditions. Follow each manufacturer’s care guidance rather than treating the rating as permission to expose a phone to water.

What is the price difference?
There is no supported like-for-like price gap to quote from the available official figures: they are for different markets, currencies and, in one case, a past promotional period.
- Galaxy S26: Samsung’s US launch announcement set a starting price of US$899.99, with 256GB and 512GB options. That is a US launch price, not a verified current price everywhere. Samsung’s US announcement.

For a useful comparison, check current prices in your country for the same storage tier and confirm whether taxes are included. Launch pricing and an expired promotion cannot tell you the price difference at the time you buy.
Which one should you choose?
- Consider the Galaxy S26 if a smaller, lighter handset is your priority, or if its regional processor and current local offer suit you.
- Consider the Xiaomi 17T if you prefer a larger, higher-resolution screen, higher stated battery capacity, faster stated wired charging or its 50MP periscope telephoto hardware.
- Compare both locally before deciding if price is the deciding factor: match storage, market, date and tax basis, and verify the exact Galaxy S26 processor sold in your region.
Neither specification sheet proves an overall performance, camera, battery-life or value winner. Treat those as questions for comparable testing and current local prices, not conclusions drawn from headline numbers.
