The OnePlus 15R lists a larger 7,400mAh typical battery and a higher maximum refresh rate of 165Hz. Those are hardware differences, not proof of which phone takes better photos, lasts longer or feels smoother in real-world use.
Price is harder to compare: Samsung’s US product page showed a starting price of $1,299.99 before trade-in, while the retrieved OnePlus US page did not list a price. A regional India price is not a fair substitute for a US price.

Specifications are not directly equivalent measures of quality. Megapixel counts do not establish photo quality, battery capacity alone does not establish runtime, and a maximum refresh-rate figure does not mean every app or screen interaction runs at that rate. No comparable independent benchmark or hands-on test is established here for performance, image quality, display smoothness or battery life.

Which phone has the better camera setup?
The S25 Ultra lists the more flexible rear-camera hardware. Its two dedicated optical telephoto cameras provide listed 3x and 5x focal-length options alongside its main and ultrawide cameras. That matters if you often photograph distant subjects or want more distinct framing options without relying only on digital zoom.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning 6.9″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate, ultra‑bright up to ~2600 nits, HDR support, “Vision Booster,” and adaptive color tone — giving vivid colours, great outdoor visibility, and super‑smooth scrolling.
- Powerful internals: it runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm) chip, with 12 GB (or in some markets up to 16 GB) RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage — offering significantly improved CPU/GPU/NPU performance, especially for AI tasks, gaming, and heavy multitasking.
- Advanced quad‑camera system: 200 MP wide main sensor, plus a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP periscope telephoto (5× optical zoom), and a 10 MP telephoto (3× optical zoom) — giving flexibility from ultra‑wide through detailed telephoto shots, and strong performance in varied lighting.
- 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W fast wired charging, wireless charging (Qi2) and reverse wireless charging — balancing long battery life with flexible charging options.
- Durable, premium build: Titanium‑frame body, protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass, with IP68 dust/water resistance, ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint sensor, modern connectivity (5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, USB‑C), and long‑term software support (Android 15 / One UI 7, promised 7 major OS/security updates).
The 15R’s listed rear system consists of a stabilized 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. The cited specifications page does not list a dedicated telephoto camera. That does not establish which phone produces better images overall; software processing, lighting and other factors are not resolved by these hardware specifications.
Display: higher resolution or higher refresh ceiling?
Samsung specifies a 6.9-inch QHD+ display with adaptive refresh up to 120Hz. OnePlus lists a 6.83-inch, 2800 × 1272 display with a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz, while qualifying 144Hz and 165Hz support to listed apps. The trade-off is therefore a higher stated resolution on Samsung’s sheet versus a higher stated refresh-rate ceiling on OnePlus’s. These figures do not by themselves establish measured brightness, color accuracy or everyday smoothness.

Battery capacity and charging depend on what matters to you
OnePlus lists 7,400mAh typical battery capacity, compared with Samsung’s 5,000mAh. The larger listed capacity may appeal if capacity is a priority, but it does not prove the 15R lasts longer: actual endurance varies with settings, apps, network conditions and use.
Charging figures need a regional qualifier. The OnePlus Canada specification page lists 55W, while OnePlus India material advertises 80W; check the exact local model and compatible charger before treating either figure as applicable to a purchase. Samsung’s launch announcement describes charging to about 65% in around 30 minutes with a 45W adapter and USB-C cable.

Price difference: what can be compared?
For the US, Samsung’s product page showed the S25 Ultra from $1,299.99 before trade-in when checked on October 4, 2026. Samsung’s January 22, 2025 launch announcement also gave a $1,299.99 starting price. A retrieved Samsung offer page showed a carrier-specific 256GB promotion at $999.99 from $1,299.99, illustrating that the amount paid can depend on promotion and eligibility; it is not a universal unlocked price (Samsung US product page; Samsung Newsroom; Samsung US offers).
The retrieved OnePlus US product page listed features but no price. A 91mobiles result showed ₹59,999 on Amazon India, but that is regional context rather than a verified current US price (OnePlus US product page; 91mobiles India price listing). A meaningful price difference requires checking both phones in the same country, for comparable storage and sales status, such as unlocked versus carrier-specific, at the time of purchase.

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy S25 Ultra if
- You want dedicated 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras as part of the listed rear-camera system.
- You prefer Samsung’s higher stated display resolution over the 15R’s higher refresh-rate ceiling.
- You need a 1TB storage option, which is listed in the cited Samsung US material.
Consider the OnePlus 15R if
- You prioritize the larger listed typical battery capacity.
- You value a display specification with a 165Hz maximum refresh rate and understand that OnePlus limits the top refresh rates to listed apps.
- You are comparing local pricing and charging details for the exact regional model rather than assuming US availability or specifications from another market.
These recommendations follow the published specifications, not comparative testing. Check current local pricing, storage availability and charging compatibility before buying.
