Which is better for your needs?
Choose the Galaxy S24 Ultra for size, S Pen and zoom options
The S24 Ultra is the clearer match if you want a large screen for reading, viewing or working with a stylus. Its S Pen support is a practical distinction from the iPhone: consider whether you will actually use pen input for notes, markup or sketches, rather than treating the feature as a bonus you are certain to need.

Its four-camera rear system also gives you two dedicated telephoto focal lengths: 3x and 5x optical zoom. That makes the Samsung the more flexible choice on the camera hardware listed here for someone who frequently photographs distant subjects. The number of megapixels alone does not establish which phone takes better photos; the available evidence does not include controlled head-to-head image testing.
Choose the iPhone 16 Pro for iOS and a smaller Pro-phone format
If you already use Apple devices or prefer iOS, the iPhone 16 Pro is the natural fit. It has a three-camera setup rather than the Samsung’s four rear cameras, but the available Apple material here does not establish enough camera detail to compare particular zoom ranges or image quality fairly.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
The iPhone 16 Pro is the smaller option in this pairing. Exact iPhone display dimensions are not established by the cited material, so the useful distinction is the overall choice: Samsung specifies a 6.8-inch display, while Apple positions the 16 Pro below the larger Pro Max model. If possible, handle both in person; screen size and comfort in one hand are personal, and a larger display can be an advantage for viewing while making the phone less convenient to carry.
Camera zoom: what the specifications do and do not show
Samsung specifies two telephoto cameras on the S24 Ultra: one with 3x optical zoom and another with 5x optical zoom. That is a hardware-based advantage for framing subjects at those distances without relying solely on digital cropping. It does not prove better results in every scene, lighting condition or zoom setting.

- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
The cited Apple sources confirm a three-camera setup but do not provide the corresponding zoom specifications. They are therefore insufficient for a complete optical-zoom comparison. Do not infer photo quality from the 200MP main-camera figure, either: megapixel counts describe image resolution potential, not the overall quality of a finished photo.

Price difference: why there is no dependable single answer
A fair price comparison needs the same country, date, storage capacity, condition and type of seller. It should also clarify whether tax, carrier activation, trade-in credit or discounts affect the price. The available figures do not form a matched pair, so subtracting them would give a misleading result.

|---|---|---|
| iPhone 16 Pro US launch price | Apple announced a US starting price of $999 in 2024. Apple launch announcement | Historical launch price, not a current quote; storage and comparable Samsung price are not paired with it. |
| iPhone 16 Pro US store listing | The Apple US buy page listed 256GB at $1,199, 512GB at $1,399 and 1TB at $1,599 when checked. Apple US buy page | Live listing that may change; no matching Samsung price from the same market, date and storage is established. |
| Galaxy S24 Ultra Netherlands launch price | Samsung announced a starting price of €1,449, with availability beginning 31 January 2024. Samsung Newsroom Netherlands | Historical Netherlands launch price in euros; it cannot be directly compared with Apple’s US dollar prices. |
| India listing snapshot | Smartprix displayed ₹102,900 for the S24 Ultra and ₹103,990 for the iPhone 16 Pro, marked updated 7 October 2026. Smartprix comparison | The listing does not establish matching storage, condition or seller, so it is not a definitive price difference. |
To answer “How much does each cost in my country?”, compare the same storage tier on the same day from a clearly identified seller, and check whether both listings are new and include the same taxes and fees. Current local availability, warranty terms and network-band compatibility also matter; prices and model configurations can vary by country.

Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery for the S24 Ultra. Battery capacity by itself cannot tell you which phone lasts longer: runtime depends on software, screen settings, network conditions and how the phone is used. The available information does not establish controlled, comparable battery-endurance or performance testing, so it cannot support a winner on either point.

How to make the final choice
- Start with software: choose the operating system and device ecosystem you want to use every day.
- Check size and input: favor Samsung if its large display and S Pen suit your habits; favor the smaller iPhone Pro format if portability is more important.
- Match camera needs to hardware: the S24 Ultra explicitly offers 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras. Treat that as flexibility, not proof of superior photos.
- Compare the same storage: the S24 Ultra starts at 256GB in Samsung’s UK specification, while Apple lists an iPhone 16 Pro option at 128GB as well as 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.
- Check the local purchase details: verify seller, condition, warranty, network bands, taxes and any carrier or trade-in terms before comparing prices.
