The clearest evidence involved the Korean Galaxy S23 Ultra (model SM-S918N) and build S918NKSU6ZYBG/S918NOKR6ZYBG/S918NKSU6DYBG. That indicated active Android 15-based One UI 7 development for the S23 family, but it was not a public beta announcement or an over-the-air update.
With hindsight, the discovery was part of the path toward the S23 series receiving stable One UI 7. It did not, on its own, establish an installation date, public-beta eligibility, or availability in every country.
What Samsung’s servers revealed
Android Central reported that tipster Tarun Vats identified an S23-related firmware build on Samsung’s test infrastructure on February 27, 2025. The documented device was the Galaxy S23 Ultra with model code SM-S918N, a Korean-market variant. The complete build string was:
S918NKSU6ZYBG/S918NOKR6ZYBG/S918NKSU6DYBG
One UI 7 is Samsung’s Android 15 interface. A firmware string appearing on a server is evidence that Samsung is compiling or validating software for a particular device and region; it is not software that ordinary owners can automatically download.

- Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.
Android Central’s report described the finding as a possible sign that an S23 beta could follow, not as an official Samsung announcement.
Test build versus public beta
Samsung’s development process can include several steps before customers receive an update:
- Engineers create internal firmware builds.
- Those builds are uploaded to regional or carrier-specific test servers.
- Samsung uses them for engineering checks, certification, compatibility testing and rollout preparation.
- A build may be replaced, restricted to employees or abandoned.
- A public beta requires a separate announcement, supported markets and an enrollment mechanism, normally through Samsung Members.
Therefore, “spotted on a server” means testing was taking place. It did not mean the firmware was ready for public installation. At the time of the February report, Samsung had not officially announced an S23 One UI 7 beta comparable to the program associated with the Galaxy S24.

A Samsung Members community post also described the S23 build as being on a test server, while later community coverage raised the possibility that Samsung might conduct internal testing without opening a separate public beta. Those posts are observations by community members, not release notices.

Which Galaxy S23 models were actually covered?
The February build identified the S23 Ultra’s SM-S918N variant. That does not prove that the same package applied to every Galaxy S23, S23+ or S23 Ultra worldwide.
| Evidence | Model or scope | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
S918NKSU6ZYBG/S918NOKR6ZYBG/S918NKSU6DYBG |
SM-S918N, Korean Galaxy S23 Ultra | One UI 7 testing for that regional Ultra variant |
S918BXXU7DXLG |
International Galaxy S23 Ultra build reported in January | An earlier internal build was observed |
S918NKSU5DYA2/S918NOKR5DYA2/S918NKSU5DYA2 |

S918BXXU8DYCI/S918BOXM8DYCI/S918BXXU8DYCI |

Firmware availability can differ by exact model number, country or CSC, carrier, chipset market, bootloader revision and the software already installed. An SM-S918N package should not be treated as proof for SM-S911U, SM-S916B or every other S23 variant.

Samsung Members posts recorded several related observations:

No. The server evidence did not confirm enrollment, supported countries, a download link or even that Samsung would run a public S23 beta.

A secondary timeline published by Gizmochina listed the S23 series for March 2025 in selected markets including the United States, India, South Korea and the United Kingdom. Because that timeline was reported through a secondary compilation rather than a directly linked Samsung announcement, it should be read as reported scheduling information, not independently verified availability: Gizmochina’s timeline archive.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What did the discovery imply about release timing?
It showed that Samsung was working on older flagship support, but it could not provide a firm launch date. Android Central noted that the Galaxy S24 beta had already gone through multiple releases, illustrating why a server appearance can still precede a stable rollout by weeks or months.
A later leaked schedule placed the S23 series around April 25, 2025. That date was a leak, not a Samsung commitment: Gizmochina’s leaked timetable.

What S23 owners should do
Check through official channels
- Open Samsung Members and look for an official beta banner or enrollment notice.
- For normal updates, go to Settings → Software update → Download and install.
- Confirm the phone’s exact model and CSC before interpreting a firmware report.
Avoid treating leaked firmware as ready-to-use software
- Do not flash a package merely because its build number appears online.
- Do not cross-flash Korean, international, carrier or U.S. firmware without verified compatibility.
- Back up important data before any beta installation or manual firmware operation.
- Remember that beta software can contain bugs, fail to install or cause data loss.
There is no verified, authoritative sideloading procedure for this specific test build in the available documentation, so manual flashing should not be presented as a routine installation method. A newer bootloader revision can also prevent downgrading to older firmware.
What the report means today
As of August 18, 2026, the original server sighting is historical rather than breaking news. Later coverage identifies the Galaxy S23 family as receiving the stable Android 15-based One UI 7 update, as reflected in the Galaxy S23 reference record.
The accurate reading of the February 2025 report is narrower: Samsung was testing One UI 7 for at least one S23 Ultra variant, and that was a meaningful development signal. It was not proof of a public beta, a universal S23 rollout or a guaranteed date.
