Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy M36 if
- You want the higher listed display refresh rate: 120Hz rather than the A17’s 90Hz.
- You prefer the M36’s Exynos 1380 specification over the A17’s Exynos 1330, without treating the chip names as a substitute for real-world testing.
- The M36’s lower India launch price for the matching RAM and storage tier is relevant to your comparison, and its current price is competitive where you shop.
Choose the Galaxy A17 if
- You want a phone with a stated IP54 rating and a listed 7.5mm thickness.
- You need Samsung’s stated microSD expansion support up to 2TB.
- You value the specified 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro cameras, in addition to its 50MP OIS main camera.
For shared basics—screen size and panel type, main-camera resolution with OIS, battery capacity, charging rating and promised software support—the published specifications are closely matched. The deciding factors are the refresh rate and processor specifications on the M36 side, versus the A17’s stated IP54 rating, thinner body and microSD support. Compare current prices for the exact storage tier before making the final call.
