If your Samsung Galaxy J3 Prime asks you to verify a Google Account after a factory reset, it is enforcing Factory Reset Protection (FRP). The supported ways forward are to sign in with a Google Account previously synced to the phone, recover that account, or ask Samsung authorized support for help with proof of purchase. A button-based reset does not remove the check.
This guide is specific to the T-Mobile Galaxy J3 Prime SM-J327T and its 2017 Android Nougat 7.0 manual. Menus and service procedures can differ by carrier variant, region, and software build.
Why the J3 Prime asks for Google Account verification
FRP is an ownership safeguard. Samsung’s J3 Prime manual says that adding a Google Account automatically activates it. After a reset, the phone may require the relevant Google Account credentials before setup can continue. Google’s Android guidance explains that a protected device can ask for its screen lock or a Google Account previously added and synced to it.
That is why resetting the phone with its hardware buttons does not bypass the ownership check. The verification screen is not evidence that the reset failed; it is the safeguard working as intended.

Samsung’s model support page identifies the T-Mobile SM-J327T and lists its 2017 Android Nougat 7.0 user manual: Samsung Galaxy J3 Prime T-Mobile support. The steps below should not be assumed to match every J3 variant.
Choose the official route that matches what you know
| Your situation | What to do |

| You know the Google Account previously used on the phone and its password | Enter that account during setup. Google says an account or user previously added and synced to the device can work; a guest account does not. |
| You know the account but forgot its password | Recover the password through Google’s account recovery process, then allow for a possible delay before using it on the phone. Do not reset the phone again while waiting. |
| You cannot identify or recover the previous account | Contact Samsung authorized support in your region and ask what ownership documentation it requires. Samsung recommends taking the device and proof of purchase to an authorized service center. |
If you can sign in to the previous account
Connect the phone to the internet during setup and enter a Google Account that was previously added and synced to it. Google’s device-protection guidance says any such account/user can satisfy the check, rather than only one particular account; a guest account cannot.

If you need to recover the password
- Use Google Account recovery to regain access to the account that was on the phone.
- After recovery, verify that you can sign in to the account before returning to device setup.
- If the password was recently changed, wait before trying it on the J3 Prime. Google advises waiting 24 hours before a factory reset after a password change; Samsung says a changed password may take 24 hours or longer before it can unlock the device.

If you cannot recover or identify the account
Contact Samsung authorized service for your region and ask what proof of ownership is needed. Samsung UK states that an owner locked out by FRP can bring the device and proof of purchase to an authorized Samsung Service Centre. Requirements and service availability vary by region; do not assume that an unofficial unlock utility is an approved substitute.

Before you reset the phone again
- A factory reset erases data stored locally on the phone. Google notes that account-backed data may be restored after sign-in, but installed apps and their data are removed.
- Another reset does not clear FRP. Confirm that you can access the previously synced Google Account before performing any reset you can still avoid.
- If you can still access the phone and are preparing it for sale or handoff, remove all Google Accounts before resetting. This disables FRP on the J3 Prime according to its manual.

The J3 Prime Nougat manual documents this path for removing a Google Account: Settings > Cloud and accounts > Accounts > Google > More options > Remove account. Remove every Google Account on the phone before you reset it for another owner. Exact labels may vary on a different carrier or software build.
