The Pokémon Company has confirmed that the games will connect to HOME in October 2026, but its announcement does not specify October 7; that date appears in a secondary distribution listing.
When does the FireRed and LeafGreen HOME connection start?
The Pokémon Company announced on August 13, 2026 that Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version for Nintendo Switch will connect with Pokémon HOME beginning in October 2026. The company has not named a specific day in its announcement. Bulbapedia’s distribution listing reports October 7, following HOME version 4.1.0, so treat that as a reported date rather than an officially confirmed one.
The Pokémon Company says: “You can now receive the Mythical Pokémon Celebi on the mobile version of Pokémon HOME as a gift for completing the Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version Pokédex.” Read the announcement.
How to qualify for the Celebi gift
- Complete the Pokédex in FireRed or LeafGreen. The announced condition is completing the Pokédex for the game; the instructions refer to either version.
- Connect the game to Pokémon HOME when the feature is available. The Pokémon registered in the game’s Pokédex will be registered in HOME’s Pokédex after connection.
- Claim the gift in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME. Celebi is delivered as a gift in the mobile app, not as a Pokémon appearing in the Switch game.
The official directions do not say that you must transfer every Pokémon—or any individual Pokémon—from the game into HOME to meet the Pokédex requirement. Pokédex registration and transferring a Pokémon are separate actions. The announcement also points to HOME’s GTS as a possible way to fill missing Pokédex entries.

Does October 7 have official confirmation?
Not in the Pokémon Company announcement available as of October 3, 2026. It confirms October 2026 for the HOME connection and Celebi reward; Bulbapedia supplies the more precise October 7 date. Pokémon Support says distribution events are announced on pokemon.com when details are available, but its general guidance does not independently confirm this specific date.
Important transfer limit before moving Pokémon
Pokémon moved from FireRed or LeafGreen into HOME cannot be returned to either game. Pokémon from other games also cannot be transferred into FireRed or LeafGreen. If your aim is only to qualify for Celebi, the announced Pokédex-registration process does not require you to move your Pokémon out of the game. See The Pokémon Company’s connection and transfer details before transferring anything.

Which FireRed and LeafGreen versions are involved?
Nintendo describes the Switch releases as digital-only and individually available in English, French, or Spanish through My Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop. This is a reward tied to connecting those games with HOME, not a physical distribution or a Celebi code. Nintendo’s release announcement lists the formats and language availability.

The planned HOME version 4.1.0 update also raises Premium Plan storage from 6,000 to 9,000 Pokémon without changing the plan price, according to The Pokémon Company. That storage increase is not stated as a Celebi requirement.
