Choose where you want to read your email
Adding a Google account through Android’s Settings makes that account available to Gmail. Adding an account inside Samsung Email instead puts it in Samsung’s email app. Choose the route based on the inbox you want to use; the account does not have to be added to Samsung Email just because you use a Galaxy phone.

Add an account through Settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap Accounts and backup.
- Tap Manage accounts.
- Tap Add account.
- Select the provider, enter the account credentials, and complete any additional prompts. Some providers may open a browser sign-in page or ask you to grant the app access.
To use the new Google account in Gmail, open Gmail after the account sign-in is complete and select that account if prompted.

- Open the Email app and choose your account provider.
- Enter your account information and complete the provider’s sign-in and privacy prompts.
- To add another account later, open Email settings and tap + Add account.
Samsung documents automatic account setup for Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft accounts in Samsung Email, although the sign-in screens depend on the provider. If Email is not installed, Samsung says you can download it from Galaxy Store or Google Play Store. You can also install your provider’s own app if you prefer.

Set up a provider that is not listed
- In Samsung Email, select Other.
- Enter the email address and account information, then choose Manual setup.
- Select the appropriate account type and enter the incoming and outgoing server details.
Ask your email provider for server names, ports, and security settings. For a work account, contact your organization’s administrator; an organization may also require access approval. Samsung notes that recognized providers may have server fields filled in automatically, but this should not be assumed for every account.
If you use the mailbox on more than one device, Samsung recommends IMAP. It is intended for access to the same mailbox from devices such as a phone, computer, and tablet. Choose the account type your provider supports and follow its instructions.

Fix common account setup problems
- Sign-in is rejected: Check the email address and password, then complete any provider security or approval prompts.
- Manual setup fails: Verify incoming and outgoing server details with the provider or work administrator. A correct password alone is not enough if server settings are wrong.
- The sign-in page will not load: Confirm that Wi-Fi or mobile data is working, then retry the setup.
- The phone reports a storage problem: Free up device storage and try again.
- Your menus do not match: Samsung says settings and available screens may differ by model, software version, and wireless carrier. Look for the equivalent account-management or add-account option on your device.
Samsung lists incorrect credentials or server settings, network problems, and insufficient storage among possible setup blockers. Its account troubleshooting guidance covers these causes; the US account guide and Samsung Email setup guide explain the setup routes. Exact options and provider prompts can change with the phone and app.
