Which phone has the bigger screen and battery?
On published specifications, the POCO is larger in both respects: its 6.83-inch display exceeds the Galaxy A57’s 6.7-inch screen, and its 8,500mAh battery has considerably more rated capacity than Samsung’s 5,000mAh typical battery. POCO describes the X8 Pro Max battery life as “2-day,” based on its internal labs, and says actual results vary. Samsung also claims up to two days for the A57. Those manufacturer statements are not a controlled head-to-head test, so they should not be treated as a prediction of equal everyday runtime.
The display figures also do not, by themselves, prove which screen looks better. POCO specifies 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate; Samsung UK identifies an FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus screen. The listed specifications establish POCO’s larger size and stated resolution, not a measured difference in brightness, color accuracy or viewing quality.

Which is easier to carry?
The Galaxy A57 is the more compact choice by the published dimensions: Samsung lists it at 179g and 6.9mm thick, while TechRadar lists the POCO at 218g and 8.2mm. That 39g weight difference and greater thickness are meaningful if you carry a phone all day or prefer a lighter handset. The POCO’s larger display and battery come with a larger, heavier body.
How do their cameras compare?
Samsung lists a 50MP OIS main camera, 12MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro camera on the A57. Xiaomi Malaysia lists a 50MP Light Fusion 600 OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide for the POCO, with rear video recording up to 4K at 60fps. Samsung’s listed array includes a dedicated macro camera; POCO’s cited regional specification page does not list one. The front cameras are listed at 12MP for Samsung and 20MP for POCO.

These are specification differences, not image-quality results. Megapixel counts and the presence of a camera module do not establish which phone takes better photos or video; no controlled side-by-side camera test is established by the cited sources.
Which has the clearer software-support commitment?
Samsung states that the Galaxy A57 will receive up to six OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates. It launched with One UI 8.5. The cited TechRadar review identifies the POCO launch configuration as Android 16 with HyperOS 3, but does not establish a directly comparable POCO support duration. If you keep phones for many years, Samsung’s commitment is the better-documented one in the available product information—not proof that the POCO has no support policy.

What is the price difference?
There is no verified current price difference in the cited material. TechRadar’s April 3, 2026 review listed POCO launch prices of $469 / £469 for 256GB and $519 / £519 for 512GB, both with 12GB RAM, and a Galaxy A57 launch price of $549.99 / £529. These are historical launch-price references, not live offers or guaranteed prices across all markets. The source does not establish matching storage configurations for the A57, so the figures are not a like-for-like current comparison.
To compare what you would pay, check current listings in your country for the exact memory and storage variants, and account for shipping, taxes and promotions. Local stock, retailer availability and network-band compatibility also depend on the country and specific SKU. TechRadar’s review notes market limitations and regional differences in battery and IP specifications.

Which one should you choose?
Choose the POCO if
- You prioritize a larger display and substantially greater published battery capacity.
- You are interested in its performance-focused positioning and are comfortable with its 218g weight and local availability.
- You have checked the exact regional model, including its specifications and software-support commitment.
Choose the Galaxy A57 if
- You want a lighter, slimmer phone.
- You value Samsung’s stated support of up to six OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

Check regional details before buying either phone: Samsung’s UK product page lists IP68 and a 5,000mAh typical battery, while POCO’s specifications and ratings may vary between markets. Xiaomi Malaysia’s camera details describe that market’s specification page and should not be assumed to apply to every regional SKU.
