Samsung’s US announcement put the A56 at a $499.99 starting price. Nothing’s UK store lists the Phone (4b) 8GB+128GB at £299. Those are different currencies, countries and configurations, so subtracting one from the other would be misleading. What the manufacturer pages do support is a comparison of displays, cameras, battery claims and software support, set out below.
Price: what each manufacturer lists
| Item | Galaxy A56 5G | Phone (4b) |
|---|---|---|
| Listed price | From $499.99 (Samsung Newsroom US announcement, published 18 July 2025) | £299 (Nothing UK product page, checked 5 October 2026) |
| Configuration behind the price | Starting price; storage options are 128GB and 256GB | 8GB+128GB |
| Market | United States | United Kingdom |
| Type of price | Launch list price, not a current street price | Manufacturer store listing |
To work out a real difference, compare the same storage tier in the same country, at the same retailer, on the same day. Check whether you are looking at a list price or a discounted one. Samsung’s announcement originally said the phone would be available “later this year starting at $499.99”. The page was later updated to say it is now on sale. Treat the figure as a launch reference rather than today’s price. An India-focused comparison page from 91mobiles shows Indian prices, but it is a secondary source and doesn’t establish a universal gap.

Where a cell says the sources don’t cover a figure, the spec isn’t established here. It is not a claim that the phone lacks the feature. Check the official spec page for your market before buying.
Display
The two screens are close on paper. Both are Super AMOLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate. The A56 measures 6.7 inches and is listed as FHD+. The Phone (4b) is slightly larger at 6.77 inches, and Nothing describes its 120Hz as adaptive, meaning the rate can change with content. Samsung’s announcement gives 120Hz for the A56 but, in the pages used here, doesn’t describe it as adaptive. Brightness, colour accuracy and outdoor visibility are not established by these sources, so don’t assume a winner.

Cameras
Nothing’s regional page lists a stabilized 50MP main camera, a 119-degree ultrawide, 4K video and a 16MP front camera. These are hardware specifications and vendor claims. Megapixel counts don’t determine image quality, since sensor size, processing and lens quality matter as much. No independent camera test is available for this pairing here, so neither phone can be called the better camera.
Battery and charging
Nothing claims a 5,200mAh battery outside India and 6,000mAh in India. This is why you should confirm your region’s variant. Nothing’s support page estimates about 86 minutes to a full charge with its official charger. That is a manufacturer estimate, not independent test data.

- The included 25W Fast Charger is a generic accessory and is not a Samsung-branded charger, 6.7" FHD+ Super AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1080x2340px, Fingerprint (under display, optical), IP67 dust and water resistance

For best charging, Nothing’s support page says: “For an optimal charge, we recommend that you: 1) Use a PPS protocol charger.” No specific extra charger is established as necessary. Check what comes in the box in your market before buying one.
Software and update support
This is where the sources differ most clearly. Samsung states six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the A56. The Nothing sources used here don’t give a comparable support period for the Phone (4b). Don’t assume the two are equal, and don’t assume a figure Nothing hasn’t stated. If long ownership matters to you, check Nothing’s current update policy for this model before deciding.

Which should you choose?
- Choose by long-term support if you keep phones for many years. Samsung has published a clear six-year commitment for the A56.
- Choose by price only after comparing same-tier, same-country, same-day prices. The £299 and $499.99 figures can’t be compared directly.
- Choose by camera or battery only after reading independent reviews for your region. The manufacturer figures here don’t settle it.
- Screen quality is unlikely to separate them on specs alone. Both use 120Hz Super AMOLED panels of similar size.
No benchmark, battery or camera tests, or long-term reliability data, are cited here. This article is based on manufacturer specifications and claims, not hands-on testing.
