The Nothing Phone (3a) has a larger display and a dedicated telephoto camera on the official specifications available here; Samsung’s Galaxy A35 5G has a documented US launch price and a 6.6-inch 120 Hz display. Neither fact establishes which phone takes better photos, lasts longer, or is the better deal today. Compare current prices for the same country and storage size before choosing.
How the key specifications compare
| Feature | Samsung Galaxy A35 5G | Nothing Phone (3a) |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED; refresh rate up to 120 Hz, according to Samsung’s US announcement. | 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED; 1080 × 2392 resolution and adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, according to Nothing Europe. |
| Rear camera details established here | Samsung’s cited announcement describes an enhanced camera but does not provide a comparable full camera specification table. | 50 MP main camera with OIS/EIS, 50 MP telephoto with 2× optical zoom, and 8 MP ultrawide, according to Nothing Europe. |
| Video detail established here | The cited announcement extract does not provide a complete video specification for comparison. | 4K recording at 30 fps, according to Nothing Europe. |
| Price evidence | US starting price of $399.99 announced by Samsung on April 18, 2024; this is a historical launch price, not a verified current offer. | Nothing Austria displayed starting prices of €329 and €379 for listed configurations. The page does not establish that these are current prices in every market. |
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results. A larger screen does not by itself prove better image quality, and a camera’s megapixel count or zoom label does not establish which phone takes better photographs.

What the camera difference means
Nothing has a dedicated telephoto camera
Nothing’s European specifications list a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom, alongside its main and ultrawide cameras. That is a clear hardware distinction in the available specifications. It may matter if you often frame distant subjects, but the listed hardware alone cannot determine image quality across different lighting or shooting conditions.
The available Samsung details are incomplete for a direct camera verdict
Samsung’s cited US announcement calls the A35 camera enhanced, but the retrieved specifications do not provide a full, directly comparable camera table. That is not evidence that the A35 lacks a particular camera or video feature. It means the available information cannot support a feature-by-feature camera verdict or a claim that one phone takes better photos.

Display size and refresh rate
Nothing lists a 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED display at 1080 × 2392 resolution with an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate. Samsung lists a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate up to 120 Hz. Nothing’s screen is larger on paper; the specifications alone do not establish which panel is brighter, more accurate, or easier to see outdoors.
Price difference: compare like with like
The figures available are not a valid direct price comparison: Samsung’s $399.99 is a US launch price announced on April 18, 2024, while Nothing’s €329 and €379 were displayed for listed Phone (3a) configurations on Nothing Austria’s page. The currencies, markets, dates, and potentially storage configurations differ, so subtracting one from the other would be misleading.

Samsung’s historical launch figure can provide context, but it should not be presented as today’s price or as proof that the A35 is currently cheaper.

Check local support and durability before buying
The available information does not establish a matched comparison of software-update commitments, IP ratings, or warranty terms. These details can vary by market and product variant. Before purchasing, check the support policy, durability rating, and warranty for the exact local model and seller rather than assuming either phone has an advantage.

Which one should you buy?
Choose by verified priorities, not an assumed overall winner
- Consider the Nothing Phone (3a) if its larger stated display or documented dedicated 2× optical-zoom telephoto camera suits your needs—and its current local price and support terms work for you.
- Consider the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G if its current price, availability, or verified local support terms make more sense for you. The cited $399.99 figure is only its US launch price from 2024, not a current-price recommendation.
- For either phone, compare current matched listings. Make the decision using the same market and storage size, then verify warranty and software support for the exact variant.
The published specifications establish a larger listed display and dedicated telephoto hardware for Nothing, plus a dated US launch-price reference and display details for Samsung. They do not establish a winner for current value, camera quality, sustained performance, or battery endurance.
