The Galaxy M36 5G is the lower-priced option in the cited comparison snapshot, while the Galaxy A35 5G offers a documented IP67 rating, microSD expansion and an 8 GB RAM configuration. Both have 120 Hz FHD+ Super AMOLED displays and 5,000 mAh typical batteries. The better choice depends on the current price for matching configurations and whether the A35’s durability and storage features are worth the difference.
Galaxy A35 vs M36 specifications
This comparison uses Samsung India’s listed 8 GB/128 GB Galaxy A35 configuration and 6 GB/128 GB Galaxy M36 configuration. RAM and storage options can vary by SKU and market, so the difference in these listings is not necessarily a difference across the entire product lines.

How much cheaper is the Galaxy M36?
Smartprix’s comparison page, last updated September 27, 2026, listed the M36 at ₹21,999 and the A35 at ₹32,999—a snapshot difference of ₹11,000. Those figures are reported listing prices, not guaranteed current checkout prices. A separate 91mobiles comparison accessed October 7, 2026 showed an M36 listing at ₹21,999 on Amazon and an A35 listing at ₹18,999 marked out of stock. The A35 figures therefore differ substantially between sources, underscoring the effect of seller, availability and timing.

Display and size: similar screen class, lighter M36
Both phones have FHD+ Super AMOLED displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The M36’s listed diagonal is 16.91 cm, compared with 16.83 cm for the A35. The figures establish a slight size difference, but not a meaningful difference in display quality, brightness or outdoor visibility.

The M36 is listed at 197 g, 12 g lighter than the A35 at 209 g. If a lighter handset matters in everyday carrying, that is a concrete advantage for the M36; the modest screen-size difference may also appeal to someone who prefers a larger display.

Camera differences: a macro specification, not a quality verdict
Samsung lists 50 MP and 8 MP rear cameras on both phones, along with OIS. The third listed camera is 5 MP on the A35 and 2 MP on the M36. That gives the A35 the higher-resolution macro specification on paper, but megapixels alone do not establish detail, color or overall photo quality. Both list a 13 MP front camera.

Durability and expandable storage favor the A35
Samsung rates the A35 IP67 under laboratory conditions: up to 1 m of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Samsung says not to use it at the beach or pool and notes that resistance may diminish over time. This rating is a defined protection advantage, not a reason to deliberately expose the phone to water.
The reviewed Samsung M36 page does not establish an IP rating. That is not enough evidence to conclude that the phone has no water resistance; it means buyers should not assume a particular rating based on this comparison.

Samsung lists microSD expansion up to 1 TB for the A35. That can matter if you keep large local photo, video or music libraries. The cited M36 page does not establish comparable microSD support, so check the exact regional SKU if expandable storage is a requirement.
Software support: more OS upgrades advertised for M36, clearer security duration for A35
Samsung’s M36 page advertises six generations of OS upgrades, but qualifies the statement as its current plans and says the timing and content may change. The A35 page states up to four OS upgrade generations and up to five years of security updates. The figures are not equivalent promises: the M36 page’s reviewed statement does not specify a security-update duration.

Battery and charging: read the claims carefully
Both phones list a 5,000 mAh typical battery and support charging at up to 25W. Samsung’s separate pages state up to 26 hours of video playback for the A35 and up to 17 hours for the M36. These are manufacturer estimates, not results from a controlled comparison, so they should not be used to predict which phone will last longer for an individual’s mix of calls, apps, brightness and network use.
Samsung says the 25W charger is sold separately for both models. Check the box contents for the exact India SKU and seller before buying a charger.
Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy M36 if
- Its verified checkout price is materially lower than the A35’s for the configuration you want.
- The cited 6 GB/128 GB configuration meets your needs, or you have confirmed the memory and storage of another exact SKU.
- You prefer the lighter 197 g body or the slightly larger listed display.
- Samsung’s advertised six OS-upgrade generations are a priority, and you understand that the company describes timing and content as changeable current plans.
Choose the Galaxy A35 if
- You want the documented IP67 rating and accept Samsung’s freshwater and laboratory-test limitations.
- You need microSD expansion up to 1 TB, as listed on Samsung’s A35 page.
- The 8 GB/128 GB cited configuration suits you better than the M36’s cited 6 GB/128 GB configuration.
- The stated security-update period—up to five years—matters more to you than the M36’s higher advertised OS-upgrade count.
Before paying more for either model, compare the same storage tier where available and verify stock, seller and final checkout price. The cited A35 and M36 configurations differ in RAM, so comparing headline prices without matching the SKU can mislead.
