In the 2026 Galaxy S26 and S26+ line, the processor depends on the model and sales region, and independent tests show results changing by workload. One reported mixed-use battery test favored Snapdragon, but it is only one test. The available sources do not establish which variant runs cooler in a direct, controlled comparison.
Which Galaxy S26 models use Exynos or Snapdragon?
Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 series on February 25, 2026. The Galaxy S26 and S26+ are reported to use either Exynos 2600 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy depending on the region; Samsung identifies the S26 Ultra as powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. Check the processor listed for the exact model and sales market rather than assuming every phone with the same Galaxy name has the same chip. Samsung Mobile Press and Tom’s Guide describe the current lineup and regional variation.

Performance depends on the task and the phone
Tom’s Guide’s March 22, 2026 comparison reports different leaders across Geekbench CPU tests and 3DMark graphics tests. These are its test results for the compared Galaxy phones, not predictions of every owner’s experience.
| Phone and test | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy | Exynos 2600 | Result in this test |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base Galaxy S26, Geekbench 6.6 single-core | 3,531 | 3,197 | Snapdragon higher |
| Base Galaxy S26, Geekbench 6.6 multi-core | 10,778 | 11,065 | Exynos higher |
| Galaxy S26, 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Unlimited | 7,059 | 7,250 | Exynos higher |
| Galaxy S26+, 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Unlimited | 7,518 | 7,219 | Snapdragon higher |
The scores are not interchangeable: the CPU tests measure different kinds of processing from a graphics benchmark, and the S26 and S26+ results do not line up identically. A peak benchmark also cannot by itself tell you how smoothly a particular game runs after sustained play or how fast a phone feels across everyday tasks.

Samsung Semiconductor says the Exynos 2600’s Xclipse 960 GPU has twice the computing performance of its predecessor and up to 50% better ray-tracing performance. Those are Samsung’s claims comparing the 2600 with its predecessor, not independent results against Snapdragon. Samsung also describes ENSS resolution upscaling and frame generation; these features do not establish a general Exynos win. Samsung Semiconductor’s Exynos 2600 page
Battery life: one rundown favored Snapdragon, with important limits
SamMobile reported an Android Addicts video test comparing an Exynos 2600 Galaxy S26 with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Galaxy S26. The same task sequence included calls and video calls, streaming, social apps, 4K/30fps recording, Maps navigation and 3DMark gaming. The reported rundown was 6 hours 48 minutes for Exynos and 9 hours 26 minutes for Snapdragon. SamMobile’s account of the test

That outcome is evidence about that particular sequence and test, not a reliable forecast of routine battery life or a broad scientific comparison. Runtime changes with factors such as network conditions, usage and settings; Samsung also cautions that actual battery life varies. Screen brightness, signal, software and the mix of tasks all matter, so do not treat the reported gap as a guaranteed advantage for every Snapdragon S26. Samsung’s announcement

It is also important to distinguish chip thermal design from the temperature a user feels on the phone. Samsung Semiconductor says the Exynos 2600 uses a Heat Path Block (HPB) and High-k EMC to improve heat dissipation. Samsung claims this reduces thermal resistance by up to 16%, helping heat move outward and the SoC’s internal temperature remain stable under heavy loads. That is a manufacturer claim about the chip’s thermal resistance—not a 16% reduction in handset surface temperature or a comparison with Snapdragon. Samsung Semiconductor
For the Snapdragon-powered S26 Ultra, Samsung says its redesigned vapor chamber and thermal interface material spread heat over a larger surface area to improve dissipation during demanding tasks. This device-level design claim cannot be directly compared with the Exynos chip’s thermal-resistance figure. Samsung Mobile Press

How to choose between the variants
- Confirm the exact model and market. The S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra are distinct devices, and processor assignment can vary by region. Check the listing or local Samsung product details for the specific SKU.
- Match performance evidence to your use. The available scores show trade-offs across CPU and graphics tests, not a universal ranking for everyday speed or sustained gaming.
- Treat battery figures as test-specific. The reported rundown favors Snapdragon under its stated task sequence; it does not settle typical runtime across users.
- Do not buy on an assumed heat advantage. The sources describe thermal designs but do not establish a controlled surface-temperature winner.
