From its settings, you can schedule quiet hours, allow selected calls and alerts, and control which notification visuals appear. Menu names and options vary by model, software version, carrier and region, so use Settings search if the steps below do not match your screen.
Turn Do Not Disturb on or off
Use Quick Settings
- Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to open the Quick Settings panel.
- Tap the Do not disturb icon. Tap it again to turn the feature off.
Find it in Settings
- Open Settings and search for “Do not disturb.”
- Open the matching setting and use its switch to turn it on or off.
Samsung notes that available screens and settings can differ by wireless service provider, software version and phone model. If a label or route is missing, search Settings for “Do not disturb.” Samsung’s U.S. instructions cover both activation routes.

Schedule recurring quiet time
A schedule can turn Do Not Disturb on automatically during a recurring period, such as a meeting or bedtime. Samsung says you can create multiple schedules.

Alternatively, search for the setting in Settings.
- Tap Add schedule. Depending on the device, you may instead see Turn on as scheduled, then Add or a plus button.
- Name the schedule, choose its preferences and save it.
- Make sure the schedule’s switch is enabled. Repeat these steps to add another schedule.
Choose which interruptions are allowed
Open the Do Not Disturb settings and look for Allowed during Do not disturb. The available controls vary, but Samsung’s U.S. guide describes options for calls and messages, app notifications, and alarms and sounds. Listed sound categories include alarms, media sound, touch sounds, calendar events and reminders.

Review these controls individually: Do Not Disturb does not necessarily delete notifications or prevent every app from delivering them. Its allowed-alert settings and notification-visibility settings are distinct, and the exact choices shown depend on your device.
Allow calls from selected people
Samsung’s U.S. call-settings guide uses the Galaxy Z Flip7 as an example of caller choices: all callers, contacts only, favorite contacts only, or none. That example also includes an option to allow a repeat caller if the same number calls more than once within 15 minutes. These labels and the 15-minute window are specific to that example and are not guaranteed on every Galaxy phone. See Samsung’s call-settings instructions for context.

Hide notification visuals while Do Not Disturb is on
If alerts still appear on screen, check the Hide notifications controls in Do Not Disturb settings. Samsung’s U.S. guide describes controls for full-screen notifications, app badges, entries in the notification panel, pop-ups and status-bar icons. It also says that critical notifications about phone activity or status are not hidden.

Use a custom mode for more automation
On devices where the feature is available, a custom mode in Settings → Modes and Routines can include a Do Not Disturb setting and use automatic triggers. This can tie quiet time to other mode settings rather than only a named time schedule. Samsung Gulf documents this workflow, but availability and screens may vary by device and region.
