LC or LE on a Samsung dishwasher is a leakage alert. The dishwasher has detected moisture where it should not be; the code does not, by itself, prove that a particular part has failed. A puddle may be absent because moisture can be inside the appliance or near its sensor. Samsung also says the dishwasher may switch itself on and keep trying to drain while the alert is active.
What the LC code means
Samsung describes LC/LE as a leakage error: the leak sensor has detected moisture. It is a warning to investigate, not a diagnosis of the source. Samsung lists possibilities that range from spilled water or detergent residue to a leaking hose or an internal component problem.

On some Samsung WaterWall models, a blocked water reflector can also trigger the code. Model behavior and guidance can differ by region, so use the manual for your dishwasher’s exact model if its instructions differ from general advice.

Make the dishwasher safe before checking it
- Unplug the dishwasher or switch it off at the circuit breaker before inspecting it.
- If you find water escaping, shut off the dishwasher’s water supply.
- Do not reach underneath or pull out a built-in dishwasher while it is energized or still connected to water. If checking a suspected source would require moving or dismantling the appliance, stop and arrange qualified service.
Check likely external sources and triggers
Supply and drain hoses
Look for moisture, damage, or loose connections along the water-supply hose and at both ends. Inspect the drain hose too. If the supply hose is clearly leaking or damaged, Samsung recommends replacing it with a 3/8-inch stainless-steel hose rather than a plastic one. Confirm the fittings and compatibility for your model in its installation guide, or use a professional installer.

Recently connected garbage disposal
If the dishwasher was recently connected to a garbage disposal, check whether the disposal’s knockout cap was removed. Samsung says a cap left in place can send water where it should not go and activate the sensor. If you are unsure how to check or correct the connection, ask an installer or service technician.
Detergent, rinse aid, and recent movement
Excess detergent can leave residue that triggers the moisture sensor. Check whether the dispenser was overfilled or detergent was added outside it. Samsung UK also lists hand-wash detergent and excess rinse aid among possible dispenser-related causes. If the dishwasher was recently moved, Samsung says splashed water near the sensor underneath may need time to dry.

Other possibilities
Samsung UK also lists a dishwasher leaning forward, a clogged filter, hose leakage, worn drain-pump gaskets, and a defective tub as possible causes. These are possibilities, not a model-independent repair diagnosis. A suspected internal leak or failed component calls for service rather than trial-and-error replacement.

If there is no active leak and the likely cause was a spill or splashed moisture, allow the area to dry. Once the appliance is safe to operate, restore power and see whether LC/LE returns. Run another cycle only if there is no active leak and doing so is safe. If water reappears or the code comes back, switch the dishwasher off; shut off its water supply if it is leaking.

When to contact Samsung service
Contact Samsung service if the code remains after basic checks and drying, if you find an internal leak, or if the suspected cause involves a pump gasket, tub, or another internal component. The code alone cannot identify which part is responsible, and drying, resetting, or replacing a hose will not resolve every case.
