You can try selling a working Samsung Chromebook through a direct marketplace listing or trade it in to Best Buy if its current estimator accepts your exact model. First identify the model and condition, then compare a trade-in offer with what the same configuration has actually sold for. The right choice depends on eligibility, fees, effort, and whether you want a direct sale or store credit.
Choose a selling route based on your Chromebook and priorities

Do not assume one route always pays more. The sources do not establish comparable current offers for your particular device. Weigh the estimated net proceeds after fees against the value of store credit, plus the time and work involved in listing and shipping.

Identify the exact model before checking offers
“Samsung Chromebook” covers more than one device. Record the model name and configuration, including processor, memory and storage, screen size, and condition. The available Swappa pricing reference applies only to a Samsung Galaxy Chromebook with an Intel Core i5 and 256 GB of storage; it should not be treated as a price for other Samsung models or configurations.

Check Best Buy eligibility with the exact device
- Open Best Buy’s trade-in estimator.
- Search for the Chromebook’s exact product or model, rather than relying on the general computers category.
- If the estimator provides an offer, review the stated conditions and remember that acceptance and value depend on the device. Best Buy’s FAQ says that if an item is not in the estimator, it cannot be accepted for trade-in at that time; eligibility may change.
- Compare the resulting eGift Card value with the likely net proceeds from a direct sale, taking into account marketplace fees, shipping, and the effort of finding a buyer.
Best Buy’s trade-in FAQ lists May 28, 2025, as its effective date; the estimator is the practical place to check current eligibility and offers.
Price a direct listing using sale evidence, not just asking prices
Use completed sales for the same model and configuration as your best price comparison, then account for the marketplace fee and shipping. A seller’s asking price is not proof that a buyer paid that amount. In a page snapshot accessed in 2026, Swappa showed a $348 average listed price for one Intel Core i5 / 256 GB Samsung Galaxy Chromebook configuration and no average sold price. That figure does not establish what the device will sell for.

Swappa says listings are free and that buyer and seller each pay a fee only once the item sells; its published seller fee is 3%. Check the current fee and listing information before proceeding, since marketplace details and prices can change.
List on Swappa if the device qualifies and the effort makes sense
- Confirm the Chromebook is fully functional and that its model is eligible for a listing.
- Use Swappa’s Samsung Galaxy Chromebook selling page to start a listing. Add clear photos, select a price, and describe the condition and included accessories accurately.
- Allow time for Swappa’s listing review, then be prepared to complete the sale and ship the Chromebook if a buyer purchases it.
Swappa’s seller information says people located outside the United States cannot create listings. If you are outside the U.S., this route is unavailable to you under its stated rules.

Do not assume Samsung accepts Chromebooks for trade-in
Samsung’s U.S. trade-in FAQ describes credit toward a new qualifying Galaxy device and specifies instant credit for smartphones or tablets; it does not establish that Chromebooks qualify. Do not count on a Samsung Chromebook trade-in unless Samsung confirms eligibility for your exact model.
