What the $389.99 deal includes
This is the 2TB M.2 2280 Samsung 990 PRO without a heatsink, model MZ-V9P2T0B/AM. Samsung sells a heatsink-equipped version separately. The $639.99 comparison is a reference/list price, not proof that $639.99 is the drive’s usual street price.

These are manufacturer specification figures reproduced in Digital Citizen’s deal report, not guarantees of the speed a particular PC will achieve. The 6,900 MB/s maximum write figure is a burst figure with Samsung Intelligent TurboWrite active. Digital Citizen says Samsung does not publish a post-cache sustained-write figure for this drive.

Will it work in a PCIe 4.0 PC or PS5?
PCIe 4.0 desktops and laptops
The 990 PRO is a PCIe 4.0 x4 drive, making it a fit for compatible M.2 NVMe slots in Gen4 systems. It is also a reasonable choice for gaming and content-creation machines that do not need Gen5 bandwidth. Confirm that your motherboard or laptop has an available M.2 2280 NVMe slot and supports the drive’s interface.
PS5 and systems that need extra cooling
This listing is the bare drive. If installing it in a PS5 or another system whose installation requirements call for an M.2 heatsink, add a compatible M.2 2280 heatsink; the Amazon configuration described here does not supply one.

The 9100 PRO’s reported price is only about $10 above the 990 PRO deal, but choosing it makes sense primarily if the system supports PCIe 5.0 and the workload can benefit from its higher rated sequential speeds. Otherwise, the 990 PRO provides high-end Gen4 performance without paying for bandwidth your system may not use.
Is the 990 PRO worth buying at $389.99?
At the reported price, the 2TB 990 PRO is a strong option for a Gen4 build when you want a high-performance drive and do not need a heatsink included. The discount is meaningful against Samsung’s stated reference price, but that anchor alone does not establish the drive’s normal market price. Compare live listings before buying, and check that the seller, exact model and heatsink configuration match your needs.
