The S23 Ultra has a 200MP main camera, compared with 108MP on the S22 Ultra, while retaining 3x and 10x optical telephoto cameras. A larger megapixel count is a specification, not proof that every photo will look better: image quality also depends on factors such as lighting, processing and the scene. The S22 Ultra’s listed 40MP front camera also has a higher nominal resolution than the S23 Ultra’s 12MP front camera, but that alone does not establish which takes better selfies.

Samsung Australia’s guide identifies a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 S22 Ultra variant, illustrating why the exact country and model matter when comparing performance. Samsung Germany lists Exynos 2200 for its S22 Ultra comparison and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy for the S23 Ultra. How different are the screens, battery and charging?
On paper, the core display and power specifications are closely matched: each has a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, a 5,000mAh battery, up to 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging in Samsung Germany’s comparison. Those figures do not guarantee equal battery life in everyday use; usage, software, signal conditions and battery age can affect endurance.

The S23 Ultra is listed at 233g, five grams heavier than the S22 Ultra at 228g. Its listed dimensions are 163.4 × 78.1 × 8.9mm, compared with 163.3 × 77.9 × 8.9mm for the S22 Ultra. Because dimensions differ, choose a case or screen protector made for the exact model; Samsung’s comparison does not list an applied screen protector in the box contents. Both use USB-C and support up to 45W wired charging, but a compatible adapter is only necessary if you do not already have one.
Which phone offers more storage?
The S22 Ultra has a listed 128GB entry option, while the S23 Ultra starts at 256GB. Both are also listed with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB options, and neither supports expandable storage. If you are comparing offers, match storage capacity where possible: a lower price for a 128GB S22 Ultra is not directly comparable to a 256GB S23 Ultra.

What is the price difference?
There is no verified current price difference. Prices vary by country, storage, condition, seller and carrier offer, so compare live listings in your market on an equivalent basis and account for whether a device is new, used or refurbished.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the S23 Ultra if its newer processor, 200MP main-camera specification or 256GB minimum storage suits your priorities, and the local price fits your budget.
- Consider the S22 Ultra if a matched-condition offer makes it the better value for you, or if you want its 128GB entry tier or higher nominal front-camera resolution. Confirm the processor in the specific regional model.
- Compare software support before buying. Samsung Germany’s comparison page states an S23-series policy of up to four years of Android/One UI updates and five years of security updates. That policy statement is not proof of either device’s live support status in your market in October 2026; verify current support for the exact model and region.
