What Ryzen DRAM Calculator 1.5.1 does—and what it does not
Released by Yuri “1usmus” Bubliy, DRAM Calculator for Ryzen is a utility for estimating RAM-overclocking settings on Ryzen AM4 systems. ComputerBase also describes the tool in connection with TR4 motherboards, but this guide focuses on AM4 DDR4.

Version 1.5.1 is a legacy release. Later 1.7.x builds exist; TechSpot describes version 1.7.3 as Windows freeware that suggests timings for a memory kit and supports Zen, Zen+ and Zen 2 processors. Do not assume that those later-version capabilities or labels apply identically to 1.5.1. A currently maintained, authoritative download source for exactly 1.5.1 is not established, so be cautious about download sites and verify the file’s provenance before running it.

- Disclaimer: Maximum Speed requires overclocking/PC BIOS adjustments. Maximum speed and performance depend on system components, including motherboard and CPU
- Hand-sorted memory chips ensure high performance with generous overclocking headroom
- VENGEANCE LPX is optimized for wide compatibility with the latest Intel and AMD DDR4 motherboards
- A low-profile height of just 34mm ensures that VENGEANCE LPX even fits in most small-form-factor builds
- A solid aluminum heatspreader efficiently dissipates heat from each module so that they consistently run at high clock speeds
What to identify before calculating
Collect the details that determine which settings are appropriate before opening the calculator. A mistaken memory IC, rank, or motherboard-topology selection can make an otherwise plausible result unsuitable.
- CPU generation: Select the generation that matches your Ryzen processor.
- Motherboard and memory topology: Identify the board and its DIMM arrangement. Slot population and board layout affect memory behavior.
- DIMM layout: Record the number of sticks and whether the modules are single-rank or dual-rank, if known.
- Memory data rate and XMP/DOCP profile: Note the kit’s rated profile and the data rate you intend to target.
- DRAM IC or die: Identify the memory chips used by the kit rather than guessing from its brand or model name.
These characteristics—especially die, rank, capacity, and XMP/DOCP profile—affect the generated settings. If you cannot confidently identify a field, do not treat a guessed value as reliable input.

- Requires overclocking/BIOS adjustments. Maximum speed and performance depends on system components, including motherboard and CPU.
- G.SKILL RipjawsV Series DDR4 U-DIMM Memory Kit, Model: F4-3200C16D-16GVKB
- Non-ECC, DDR4 U-DIMM, 288-pin, for Desktop PC & Gaming
- Includes JEDEC default profile, and Intel XMP memory overclock profile
- Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.
How to generate a profile
- Read the DIMM SPD data. Use Thaiphoon Burner to read the modules’ SPD information and export a complete report. ComputerBase recommends importing the exported HTML report so the calculator can use details about the actual kit.
- Prepare the report. Thaiphoon Burner’s tutorial says to switch the report to nanoseconds and export the complete HTML or text report. This is the companion tool’s documented workflow; labels may differ by software release.
- Load the memory information. Open Ryzen DRAM Calculator, choose the processor generation and memory type, then use Import XMP with the exported report or profile information. Confirm the displayed kit and configuration details before calculating.
- Generate a preset. Choose Calculate SAFE or Calculate FAST. These are generated presets, not a promise that the system will train successfully or pass a stability test.
- Record the output before changing BIOS. Keep the suggested primary and secondary timings, CAD-bus or drive-strength settings, and voltage recommendations together with the calculator’s input selections. That record makes it easier to identify and undo a change.
The exact controls can vary between calculator releases. The Import XMP sequence above is described in Thaiphoon Burner’s current tutorial; do not assume every 1.5.1 screen matches a later guide.

Review the result as a complete configuration rather than copying one headline timing. AMD’s Ryzen Master documentation lists Memory Clock, Fabric Clock, and a broad DRAM Timing Configuration set, including the settings below. Names and available controls can vary by motherboard BIOS.

| Setting group | Examples to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Target and latency | Data rate and tCL | These describe the target memory operating point and a prominent primary latency. |
| Primary timings | tRCD, tRP, tRAS | Compare the full set rather than judging a profile by tCL alone. |
| Secondary timings | tRFC, tFAW, tRRDS, tRRDL, tWR, tWTR | These are part of the broader timing configuration and may affect whether the profile works reliably. |
| Command and signal settings | Command rate, Gear Down behavior, CAD-bus and drive strength | Check that the suggestions match the system’s DIMM layout and BIOS options. |
| Voltages | DRAM voltage and SoC-related voltage | Review each value rather than assuming a preset’s voltage recommendations are appropriate for every CPU and board. |
Calculator fields and BIOS labels may not match exactly. If a setting is absent or named differently, consult the motherboard manual rather than substituting a value for a setting you cannot identify.
How to apply the settings and recover from a failed boot
- Save a known-good BIOS profile. Do this before changing memory settings, and keep a written or photographed record of the current configuration.
- Enter BIOS memory controls. Use the motherboard’s BIOS/UEFI memory or DRAM configuration area. The menu path varies by manufacturer and board; there is no universal AM4 path.
- Apply changes in small steps. Start with the intended data rate and the settings you can map confidently to BIOS controls. Avoid changing unrelated CPU settings at the same time, so a failed boot is easier to diagnose.
- Save and restart. Allow the board to attempt memory training. A successful boot is only an initial check, not evidence of stability.
- If the system will not train or boot, restore defaults. Follow the motherboard manual’s CMOS-clear procedure, then load the known-good profile or re-enter the previous settings. Do not repeatedly retry a profile that prevents recovery.
How to check stability
Test the resulting configuration with a dedicated memory test and ordinary workloads on the exact CPU, motherboard, and DIMM combination. Watch for memory-test errors, crashes, failed restarts, or other instability. If errors appear, return to a known-good configuration and make a more conservative change; the calculator’s SAFE label is not a substitute for validation.

AMD’s Ryzen Master User Guide cautions that modifying stock CPU, system-memory, current, power, and voltage settings can come “at the risk of reduced processor longevity and reliability.” AMD also documents that changing memory and voltage settings can reduce processor longevity or reliability and may void the AMD warranty. Consider that risk before overclocking, especially when changing voltage.
