RX 560 Gaming Performance: Which Games Can It Run, and What Should You Expect?

The Radeon RX 560 can handle many older or lighter games at 1080p, but demanding games may require lower settings or resolution. Exact results depend on the card variant and PC.

Yes—the AMD Radeon RX 560 can run games, particularly older or less demanding titles at 1080p. It is not a reliable choice for every modern game at high settings: demanding titles may need reduced graphics quality or resolution. Results also depend on the exact card, its memory and revision, and the rest of the PC.

What the RX 560 can handle

The most defensible expectation is 1080p gaming with settings chosen for the game. Historical tests show the RX 560 delivering more than 60 fps in one lighter title at 1080p Ultra, but only 23 fps in a demanding title at the same resolution and preset. Those results came from a particular overclocked board in 2017; they are examples, not a universal frame-rate promise.

AMD positioned the RX 560 at launch as an efficient 1080p gaming card. That describes its launch-era intent, not proof that it will run every current release well. The available evidence does not establish a current, comprehensive benchmark set across games.

What historical game tests show

Game Reported result Test context
Alien: Isolation Over 60 fps at 1080p Ultra Tech Advisor, 2017; overclocked Gigabyte RX 560 Gaming OC
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided 23 fps at 1080p Ultra Tech Advisor, 2017; same overclocked Gigabyte board. The review said 60 fps was achievable only at 720p Low, and recommended reduced settings to target 30 fps at 1080p.

The contrast is more useful than either number alone: game demands and settings matter. For a game you care about, look for a benchmark using the same resolution, similar settings, and ideally the same RX 560 variant. A result from a different PC can still be informative, but it is not a guarantee for yours.

Why RX 560 cards can perform differently

RX 560 is a product name, not one exact configuration. AMD’s specifications list 14- or 16-compute-unit versions, 896 or 1,024 stream processors, and up to 4GB of GDDR5. AMD also lists up to 2.6 TFLOPs, a 128-bit memory interface, up to 112 GB/s bandwidth, and typical desktop board power of 60–80 W. These are manufacturer-listed ranges and maxima; not every partner card has the top configuration.

Memory capacity, clock speeds, cooling, and factory overclocking can vary by manufacturer and revision. In a specific Gigabyte example, Tech Advisor reported both 2GB and 4GB cards; its later version 2.0 4GB model omitted the 6-pin power connector and had lower clocks than the earlier model. That example does not establish how every brand’s revisions differ. More VRAM can help in some higher-quality settings, but it cannot make an otherwise unplayable workload perform well by itself.

Check compatibility before installing or buying

  • Identify the exact card. Check the manufacturer, complete model number, revision, VRAM capacity, clock specification, dimensions, and cooling design. Do not rely on “RX 560” alone.
  • Check the power connector. Some boards require an auxiliary PCIe power lead; others may not. Inspect the exact card and its manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Check the power supply. AMD lists a 450 W minimum recommended PSU for the RX 560, but that is manufacturer guidance, not a guarantee that any 450 W unit is suitable for any system. Account for the full PC and follow the card maker’s recommendation.
  • Confirm physical fit. Compare the card’s length and slot requirements with the available space in the case.
  • For a used card, verify its condition. Ask for the exact model and revision, clear photos of the card and power socket, evidence it works, and the seller’s return terms.

How to decide whether it suits your games

Start with the specific games and target experience rather than a blanket claim that a GPU “runs games.” If you mainly play older or lighter titles at 1080p, the historical results suggest the RX 560 can be a workable option. If you expect demanding games at high settings or consistently high frame rates, the documented 1080p Ultra result for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided shows why substantial compromises may be necessary.

When comparing a used RX 560 with another card, compare game results at your resolution and settings, memory capacity, board condition, dimensions, power requirements, and the current local price. Historical reviews placed RX 560 performance near the GeForce GTX 1050 in many games, but that is a 2017 comparison, not a current buying recommendation. Current prices and modern game-by-game performance are not established here.
