Jagex has announced RuneScape Reignited as a remastered journey, but its public page does not document Reignited’s exact controls or graphics menus. The settings below are therefore current RuneScape guidance, not a guarantee of Reignited’s final options.
Where to find graphics settings in the current RuneScape client
Open Options from the lobby, or, while in game, press Esc and choose Settings → Graphics. Jagex documents presets called Min, Low, Mid, High, Ultra and Custom. Min is intended for exceptionally low-end devices; Custom lets you adjust individual options.

The current settings guide also documents a resizable Windows display mode and fullscreen with a selectable resolution. Menu labels and availability may differ in Reignited; check that client’s own settings or official announcements when it is available.
Choose a starting point for your device and display
If the game runs poorly
Begin with a lower preset rather than assuming Ultra is best for every computer. Jagex advises reducing graphics settings when a device struggles to show the game’s graphic details. If the lower preset helps, raise individual options gradually and stop when performance becomes uncomfortable. No FPS improvement can be guaranteed: Jagex’s published guidance does not provide comparative RuneScape or Reignited benchmarks.

If interface text and buttons look too small
Raise Interface Scaling until the interface is comfortable to read. Jagex lists a range of 70%–300% for the current RuneScape setting. This changes the size of interface elements, not the resolution at which the game world is rendered; larger UI also occupies more screen space.
If the game image looks soft or jagged
Game Rendering Scaling changes the resolution used to render the game before it is scaled to the monitor’s resolution. Jagex lists a range of 50%–200%. A lower value renders at a lower resolution and upscales the result, which can make the image look softer; a higher value may look sharper but can demand more from the device. Anti-aliasing smooths jagged edges, though its performance cost depends on the system and setting.

Adjust visual detail selectively
These options affect how much detail is drawn or how the scene is lit. Raise them for visual quality when performance allows; lower them if the game struggles. Change one or a small group at a time so you can tell which setting matters on your device.

Other documented options include brightness, roof removal, custom cursors, loading screens, smooth camera fade, tree canopy fade and mouse-over entity highlights. These are preference or visibility controls; change them to suit how you play rather than expecting a particular FPS gain.

Decide whether VSync matches your problem
VSync synchronizes frame output with the monitor’s refresh rate and can reduce screen tearing. Jagex notes that it may affect FPS, and its separate input-lag guidance suggests turning VSync off as one troubleshooting step. If clicks or actions feel delayed, try switching it off and compare; it is not a universal setting to disable, and turning it off may bring tearing back.
Diagnose lag before lowering every setting
Slow graphics, delayed input and a poor connection can feel similar, but they do not have the same cause. Jagex distinguishes frame rate, graphics issues, input lag and connection lag in its troubleshooting advice. FPS is the rate at which the graphics card renders frames; lowering visual settings may help when rendering performance is the problem, but it does not by itself fix network delay. Jagex also notes that a TV’s display refresh rate may be lower than a monitor’s, which can affect how responsive play feels.

- Choppy visuals or low frame rate: lower the graphics preset and visual-detail settings, then check whether rendering becomes smoother.
- Delayed clicks or actions: distinguish input/display delay from connection trouble; test VSync off as one possible input-lag step.
- Actions registering late while movement or the world appears delayed: investigate connection latency rather than treating graphics quality as the only cause.

- Close programs you do not need while playing.
- Update graphics drivers and the operating system.
- Check power-management settings. On a laptop running on battery, reducing graphics settings may help.
- Use the laptop on a flat surface with enough airflow.

What is confirmed for RuneScape Reignited?
Jagex describes Reignited as a remastered journey and says later parts are planned for 2027. Its public RuneScape Reignited page discusses the remaster, officially supported integrated plugins and a restoration roadmap, but does not list exact graphics controls, defaults or menu navigation. Jagex’s detailed graphics-settings article is specifically for the current RuneScape client. Until Reignited’s client or official documentation confirms otherwise, treat the paths and options in this guide as current RuneScape guidance rather than Reignited instructions.
