For a first Rune Slayer character, choose by combat style rather than chasing a single “best” build: decide whether you want melee or ranged combat, mobility or durability, and whether healing or support appeals to you. Then learn the basic combat controls and follow NPC quests and Adventurer’s Guild jobs to progress. Class lists, pairings, and balance advice below come from guides updated June 17, 2025; check the current character screen and update notes because the live roster and meta are not verified here.
Which class should a beginner choose?
A June 17, 2025 beginner guide describes six base classes, but community class pages conflict on whether the roster has six or seven and one includes Samurai. Treat the descriptions below as a dated snapshot, not a confirmed current roster or balance ranking. Check which classes are selectable in your game before committing. Pro Game Guides’ beginner guide and the conflicting community pages (Rune Slayer RBLX Wiki; Rune Slayer Roblox Wiki) provide the available descriptions.

- Choose ranged combat if you would rather attack from a distance; consider Archer or Magician from the guide’s list.
- Choose melee if you want to fight close up; compare Striker’s chained attacks, Thief’s mobility, and Warrior’s durability.
- Choose Priest if healing and support matter more to you than maximizing offense.
- Before settling on a character, check current in-game class descriptions and update notes, especially if you are choosing based on a tier ranking.
Do race and class pairings matter?
The race/class recommendations are also dated. A June 17, 2025 guide says races have unique passives and suggests pairings, but it includes apparent editing inconsistencies in a subclass sentence. Use its examples as options to investigate—not as binding optimal builds—and check the current race passives and class descriptions in-game. The community Races wiki page is marked as a stub and says some evolution details are incomplete. It and the 2025 beginner guide report a 150 Robux race reroll, but that is a dated reported price, not a verified current cost. The wiki also lists Human, Elf, and Orc as common choices for a first free slot. Check the live game before spending Robux or treating either detail as current.
Which controls should you learn first?
The June 2025 guide lists these PC inputs. Bindings may change, so confirm them in the in-game controls menu if an action does not work.

For opening fights, get comfortable with attack, feint, heavy attack, parry or block, and dash before worrying about fine-tuning a build. The guide documents the actions, but does not establish a universally best combat sequence.
How does early progression work?
The dated beginner guide’s practical starting loop is to take NPC quests and Adventurer’s Guild board jobs. It places the Guild headquarters near the Wayshire Job Board and says NPC quests marked with a yellow question mark are non-repeatable, offering experience, currency, and items.

- Follow available yellow-question-mark NPC quests in the starting area.
- Visit the Adventurer’s Guild near the Wayshire Job Board and speak to the receptionist to take jobs.
- Complete five jobs of any kind. The guide says this unlocks a special rank-up job on the board, which usually involves a boss.
- Check the board again for the rank-up job and take it when available.
This is a supported early route, not proof of the fastest way to level. The five-job threshold and job details are reported in a guide updated June 17, 2025, so confirm the current board requirements if the game has changed.
