RugOne says the 39 g module records up to 2.7K at 30 fps and runs for up to 40 minutes away from the phone. That makes it an unusual all-in-one option, but not an obvious substitute for a dedicated action camera: TechRadar’s review identifies limits including the 2.7K ceiling and restricted camera-control range.
How the detachable camera works
RugOne announced the Xsnap 7 Pro at IFA Berlin on September 5, 2026, as a rugged phone with a removable action-camera module. The company describes a magnetic attachment with a snap-and-latch mechanism. Once detached, the 39 g module can be mounted on a helmet or handlebars, attached to a strap, or worn as a pendant, according to RugOne’s launch announcement and its IFA launch post.

This is different from using a phone’s camera app with the handset in your pocket: the camera itself can stay on the mount while you control it remotely. TechRadar reports that the detached camera connects over a Wi-Fi hotspot, stores footage on its own internal memory before transfer, and can be controlled remotely. 9to5Google reports that RugOne’s app can stream from the camera at distances up to 50 m; that is a reported app capability, not a verified real-world control range. TechRadar lists limited control range as a drawback.
What the camera can record—and what it cannot
RugOne lists video recording up to 2.7K at 30 fps, a 133-degree field of view, image stabilization, and horizon-leveling features. Other listed modes include distortion correction, FreeFrame video, time-lapse, slow motion, pre-recording, loop recording, and HDR photos. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from independent laboratory testing. The sources do not establish controlled tests of image quality or stabilization.

The module has 64 GB of onboard storage. RugOne says that is enough for up to eight hours of 1080p footage, and rates standalone camera battery life at up to 40 minutes. The company says the phone can recharge the docked camera and claims it can recharge the module up to 20 times. Those figures are RugOne’s claims; the available sources do not report independent battery tests. RugOne also says the module is waterproof to 5 m.
The phone-and-camera combination may suit someone who wants a compact, removable camera for occasional hands-free clips without carrying a separate camera. But the 2.7K/30 fps maximum is a clear performance ceiling, and TechRadar reviewer Mark Pickavance says the module “isn’t a replacement for a GoPro.” The review calls the phone a “curious mash-up” that may still be useful, while noting the phone’s unusual shape and the camera’s limited control range. There is no controlled head-to-head test establishing how it compares with current GoPro, DJI, or Insta360 cameras.

The phone is built around rugged use
RugOne lists a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G processor, 12 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage, a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, and a 9,300 mAh battery. Its September 5 announcement also lists a 50 MP main camera, a 64 MP infrared night-vision camera, and a 32 MP front camera. TechRadar’s review contains a chipset discrepancy: its prose says Dimensity 9400, while its comparison table says 8400. RugOne’s IFA post also identifies the 8400, so that is the supported specification here.
RugOne lists IP68 and IP69K ratings and MIL-STD-810H credentials. The company says the phone can be submerged to 2 m for 30 minutes and withstand a 1.5 m drop onto concrete. These are manufacturer-stated protection claims; the available sources do not provide independent underwater or drop-test results. TechRadar’s comparison table reports a phone weight of 477 g, though RugOne’s launch post does not state a weight in its text.
