RPCS3, the open-source PS3 emulator, has announced that all six Ratchet & Clank games released for the PlayStation 3 can now run on PC without crashing. According to Notebookcheck’s report of the announcement, the games still aren’t rated “Playable” in RPCS3’s compatibility system because performance remains insufficient. Read the news as a stability milestone, not a promise of smooth gameplay.
What changed
Notebookcheck credits the fix to RPCS3 lead developer elad335 and describes it as improved RSX FIFO GET accuracy. RSX is the PS3’s graphics processor, and the change concerns how the emulator tracks the command stream sent to it. Notebookcheck says the announcement came from RPCS3 on X. Neither the report nor this article quotes the developers beyond that technical phrase.

RPCS3 uses “Playable” for games that perform at PS3 level on its recommended hardware specifications. Notebookcheck says the Ratchet & Clank games don’t meet that bar because performance is still insufficient. In practice, expect the games to stay running but possibly to do so slowly.
#1 Best Overall
- Internet Ready With Built-in Wi-Fi with a Cell Broadband Engine Advanced Microprocessor
- When starting up the system for the first time, hold the power button until a "screen display" message shows up on screen. Select the desired output, and the system will startup normally.
- 160GB system
- Blu-ray player to give you pristine picture quality
- The best high-definition viewing experience available
The report gives no frame rates, benchmarks, or test configurations for any of the six games. It notes that RPCS3 is CPU-demanding, but offers no measurements to support a hardware recommendation. Don’t buy a new processor on the strength of this announcement. Check the game’s current entry in RPCS3’s own compatibility list before you decide anything.
Playing from discs
Notebookcheck says RPCS3 can read PS3 discs through a compatible Blu-ray drive. The report names no drive model and gives no verified compatibility list, so confirm that a drive works before buying one. Use only games you legally own, which is the report’s own stipulation.

What to take from it
- All six PS3 Ratchet & Clank games are reported to run without crashing.
- None is classed as Playable yet, because of performance.
- Real-world speed on your PC is unproven until you test it or see RPCS3’s compatibility data.
This article relies on Notebookcheck’s report. RPCS3’s own compatibility database wasn’t independently checked, and its live ratings may differ from what’s described here.
