To put a clock on your Roku’s idle screen, install a clock-themed screensaver and select it under Home > Settings > Theme > Screensavers. Changing the clock format in Roku’s interface settings is a separate option; it does not set a clock screensaver.
How to set a clock as your Roku screensaver

Press Home on your Roku remote.

Open Settings, then choose Theme > Screensavers. That is the route in Roku’s U.S. support instructions. On some devices or in some regions, the screensaver menu may appear more directly under Settings; follow the closest matching label shown on your screen. Roku’s screensaver instructions

Check My screensavers for an installed clock option. If you don’t see one, browse the available screensavers or store listings and search for clock. Roku’s Streaming Store includes screensavers, and Roku says you can search for and install apps there. Roku’s Streaming Store guide

Open a clock screensaver listing to review its details and any available preview or screenshots. Choose the install or purchase action shown on the listing; the price depends on the app.

After installation, select Set as screensaver or the equivalent confirmation on your device. Installing an app alone may not make it the active screensaver.
Which clock screensavers are available?
Availability can vary by Roku device and region, and the available options can change. Roku says it sometimes changes the default screensaver and may run different screensavers on select devices. Search on the Roku you plan to use and check its listing for current availability and compatibility. Roku’s note about changing screensavers

One current example
Roku’s Streaming Store lists Matrix Clock Screensaver, attributed to Smart Apps and described as showing digital rain with a clock and date. Screensavers may be free or paid. Check the individual listing rather than assuming a clock option is either. Roku’s free Aquatic Life screensaver, for example, is restricted to 4K Roku streaming devices; that restriction applies to Aquatic Life, not necessarily to clock screensavers. Why isn’t the clock screensaver appearing?

It is installed but not active: Return to Settings > Theme > Screensavers, select the clock option, and confirm that it is set as the screensaver.

You changed the clock format instead: Roku’s interface clock-format preference changes how a clock is displayed in the interface; it does not select an idle-screen screensaver. Choose an actual clock-themed screensaver. Roku’s interface-personalization guidance

The listing is missing: Search the store on the Roku itself. A listing may not be available for every device or region, and screensaver options can change.

Adjust when the screensaver starts
In the Theme or Screensaver settings, adjust Screensaver wait time to control how long the Roku waits before displaying the screensaver. You can also disable the screensaver from those settings. You only need the Roku remote to navigate and confirm the choices; no additional accessory is required.
