Set up the Roborock Saros 10R by positioning its dock on a hard, level surface, pairing the robot in the Roborock app over a 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network, checking the first map, and then starting a full-home or targeted clean. The exact app labels can change, and dock plumbing instructions apply only to the region-specific refill-and-drainage model.
This guide takes you from an unopened box to a usable map and a controlled first cleaning task without assuming a particular firmware version or hands-on test result.

Before you begin: identify your dock and installation requirements
There are two installation situations covered by Roborock documentation: the ordinary Saros 10R dock and a region-limited refill-and-drainage configuration. Confirm the model shown on your packaging, order information, or dock documentation before you position anything. Do not install water-supply or drain piping merely because you own a Saros 10R; those instructions are specific to the plumbing-equipped variant.
Standard dock
For a standard dock, choose a hard, even floor and place the dock against a wall so it cannot shift when the robot returns. Avoid carpet or other soft floor coverings, tight alcoves, and narrow passages that could restrict the robot’s approach or departure. Leave enough open space for the robot to leave in a straight, predictable path and to return without furniture blocking the dock.

Refill-and-drainage dock
Roborock’s US product documentation describes extra requirements for the refill-and-drainage version. It calls for a hard, level surface, strong Wi‑Fi, a suitable plumbing route, and leak checks before power is applied. The stated plumbing guidance includes a pipe run within 6 m and water pressure of 0.1–0.4 MPa. Those figures belong to that configuration and region; they are not general Saros 10R requirements.
For that US configuration, Roborock lists approximately 30.5 cm (12 in) of height, 40 cm (15.75 in) of width, and 120 cm (47.24 in) of depth clearance. Treat these as installation guidance for the refill-and-drainage dock described on the US page, not as universal dimensions for every Saros 10R package. After connecting plumbing, inspect every connection for leaks before turning the dock on. If your regional manual differs, follow the manual supplied with your exact unit.
Roborock identifies the plumbing-equipped dock as region-limited. If the dock, manual, and product page do not clearly match, stop and verify the exact variant rather than adapting plumbing steps from another model.

Unbox and prepare the room
- Put the dock in its final location. Moving it after mapping can make the saved map or dock position less useful. Keep the approach open and remove packaging film, foam, and transit blocks from both the robot and dock.
- Clear the first route. Pick up cables, clothing, small toys, and loose objects that could obstruct wheels or brushes. Open doors to rooms you want included in the first map, and close doors to areas that should remain outside it.
- Check floor transitions. The first run is when the robot learns the accessible layout. Remove temporary obstacles and leave thresholds in their normal position so the map represents everyday use.
- Connect power. Seat the dock’s power connection and place the robot on the dock. Allow it to charge according to the supplied manual before asking it to clean if the battery is low.
These preparation steps are practical setup guidance. They are not a promise that the robot will cross every threshold or recognize every object; the first map reflects the actual clearances and obstacles in your home.
How do I connect my Saros 10R to Wi‑Fi?
Pair the robot through the Roborock app. The Saros 10R manual states, “Only 2.4 GHz WiFi is supported.” A phone connected to a 5 GHz-only network will not satisfy that requirement, so select a 2.4 GHz network during setup. The app’s screens can change as it is updated, so use the labels shown by your current version rather than relying on an older screenshot.

- Confirm that the selected network is 2.4 GHz; 5 GHz-only service is not supported by the manual’s setup requirement.
- Move the robot and phone closer to the router or dock while pairing, especially if the dock is in a distant room.
- Restart the app and repeat Add Device or + rather than creating a second, partially configured entry.
- Use the Wi‑Fi reset procedure illustrated in the official manual, then add the robot again. Button combinations differ by model and are not reproduced here without the manual’s diagrams.
- If the app’s labels differ from these instructions, follow the current on-screen guide; Roborock warns that its interface is subject to change without notice.
How do I map my house with the Saros 10R?
Once paired and charged, let the robot make its initial map before you invest time in room labels or cleaning schedules. Roborock says a first run can create a detailed map. The map is a representation of the accessible floor at that time, so open the doors and clear the route for the rooms you want included.
Prepare for the mapping run
- Return the robot to the dock and confirm the dock is shown as its starting point in the app.
- Open the doors to rooms that should be mapped. Keep restricted rooms closed.
- Remove temporary clutter from corridors, around chair legs, and near the dock.
- Keep people and pets from repeatedly blocking the robot while it explores. You do not need to follow it, but watch the first departure so you can intervene if it meets an unexpected obstruction.
Start mapping
Use the app’s mapping or initial-cleaning prompt when it is offered. If the app presents a choice between a mapping-oriented task and a normal cleaning task, choose the option that creates the initial map before trying to fine-tune room boundaries. Roborock describes quick mapping in relation to its Clean&Mapping mode, but the time and outcome depend on the home environment; do not treat a marketing comparison as a guaranteed duration.
During the run, the robot may outline room edges and then cover areas in a systematic pattern. Let it complete the route and return to the dock when possible. A practical first-time check is to watch that it can leave the dock, pass through the intended doorway, and find its way back. That observation helps you identify a placement or obstruction problem before a longer cleaning task.
Review the map before cleaning
After the initial exploration, open the map view in the Roborock app and inspect it before starting a full cleaning cycle. Roborock’s app documentation describes editing room layouts, no-go zones, and cleaning sequences, but the exact menu names and tap order can change. Use the current map editor controls rather than a fixed path copied from an older app version.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCheck boundaries and missing areas
- Look for a continuous outline around each accessible room.
- Check doorways for accidental gaps or barriers that split one room into multiple pieces.
- Look for areas the robot could not enter because a door was closed or an object blocked the route.
- Verify that the dock icon is in the correct physical location.
Correct splits, merges, and labels
Open the room-edit controls in the map editor. Where the current app permits it, split a space that contains separate rooms, merge pieces that belong together, and assign readable room names. The available controls and their location are not fixed across every app release, and Roborock cautions that some features may not be available on all products. If you do not see a rename, split, or merge command, update the app or consult the current in-app help for your model instead of guessing at a hidden gesture.

Use labels that match how you will request cleaning—for example, “Kitchen” or “Upstairs hall”—rather than decorative names that are easy to confuse. Save the map after each edit if the app presents an explicit save action, then reopen the map to make sure the change persisted.
Add no-go zones carefully
Use no-go zones for places the robot should never enter, such as a fragile display area, a pet-feeding station, or a section with loose cables. Draw the boundary inside the map editor and check that it does not block the only route to a room or the dock. A virtual boundary cannot compensate for a physical hazard outside the mapped area, so continue to remove objects that can be caught by the robot.
Multi-level homes
Roborock’s global app page describes a multi-level system supporting up to four floors, while also warning that features vary by product. Treat multi-floor storage as conditional: check that the Saros 10R and your regional app expose the feature before moving the robot between levels. Do not assume that a map created on one floor automatically applies to another or that the robot can navigate stairs.

How do I rename rooms in the Roborock app?
Room naming is performed from the saved map, not from the robot’s physical controls. Open the map, enter its room-edit mode, select the room, and use the current rename or label control. Because Roborock does not establish one permanent tap sequence for every app release, the safe instruction is to follow the controls displayed in your version of the editor.
- Open the Saros 10R device page in the Roborock app.
- Open the current map view and select the map-editing function.
- Select the room whose label you want to change.
- Choose the displayed rename, room name, or label command.
- Enter a distinct name, confirm it, and verify the label on the map.
If a room cannot be selected, the map may still be processing, the area may not be recognized as a separate room, or that editing feature may not be available in the current product configuration. Finish map processing, inspect the split and merge controls, and use the app’s current help rather than relying on instructions for another Roborock model.

Choose the right first cleaning task
Once the map is understandable, choose a task based on the coverage you actually want. Roborock describes four broad task scopes in the app and several cleaning-mode choices. Availability can vary by product and software version.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →| Task scope | Use it when | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Full-home | You want all mapped rooms serviced | Every eligible room on the selected map |
| Specific room | You want to test or clean one named room | The room or rooms selected in the map |
| Zone | You need a rectangular area that does not correspond to a whole room | The zone drawn in the app |
| Spot | A small, localized spill or high-traffic patch needs attention | The spot area offered by the app |
For a cautious first clean, select one mapped room and watch the robot complete the departure, coverage, and return. If the map looks correct and the route is unobstructed, a full-home task is reasonable. This staged approach is practical guidance, not a manufacturer performance test.
Select a cleaning mode
Depending on the controls exposed for your Saros 10R, the app may offer vacuum-and-mop, vacuum-only, mop-only, or a customized combination. Select the mode that matches the floor and the task. If a mode is absent, do not infer that a hidden setting exists; Roborock notes that app functions are not universal across all products.
How do I start the first cleaning run?
The manual’s basic instruction is to press the clean control to start. You can use the robot’s physical clean button or the corresponding app control after selecting the desired task.
- Inspect the map. Confirm room boundaries, names, and no-go zones before sending the robot into every room.
- Prepare the floor. Pick up cables, clothing, small objects, and anything that could be pulled into a brush or wheel.
- Choose scope. Select one room for a supervised trial, or choose full-home, zone, or spot cleaning from the available app options.
- Choose the cleaning mode. Select vacuum/mop, vacuum-only, mop-only, or a customized mode if your app offers it.
- Press Clean. The manual describes the robot planning its route, outlining room edges, and then filling the area with a zigzag pattern.
- Observe the first minutes. Make sure it clears the dock, reaches the intended area, and does not encounter a physical obstruction.
- Let the task finish or stop it in the app. If you stop early, return the robot to the dock and correct the map or room before the next attempt.
Do not judge mapping speed as cleaning performance. Roborock says actual results vary with the home environment, and no fixed mapping duration or coverage result is established for every Saros 10R installation.
Troubleshoot the first run
The robot cannot leave the dock
Check that the dock is on a hard, level surface and that furniture, rugs, cables, or a narrow passage are not blocking the approach. For a plumbing-equipped dock, also check that the installation follows the regional clearance and plumbing instructions and that no leak caused you to disconnect the dock.

A room is missing from the map
Confirm that its door was open during mapping and that the robot had a navigable route. Remove temporary obstacles, start a new mapping or cleaning task as offered by the app, and then review the updated map. Do not rename a missing room as a substitute for mapping it.
One room appears as several rooms
Use the current map editor’s merge control if it is available. If the room boundary is still wrong, remove the obstruction and allow the robot to explore again. Menu names may differ after an app update.
The map contains an unsafe route
Stop the task, remove the physical hazard, and add a no-go zone in the map editor if the area should remain inaccessible. A virtual zone is an aid to navigation, not a replacement for securing loose cables or fragile objects.

Confirm the 2.4 GHz requirement, bring the phone and robot closer to the router, reset Wi‑Fi using the manual’s illustrated sequence, and repeat device addition. If the app shows different wording, follow its current guide because Roborock may revise the interface.
What to verify after setup
- The dock is stable, level, powered, and reachable from the mapped floor.
- The robot appears online in the Roborock app over a supported 2.4 GHz connection.
- The map contains the rooms you intended to include and excludes closed areas.
- Room labels describe the spaces you will select for future cleaning.
- No-go zones do not cut off the dock or the only route to a desired room.
- The first supervised task can leave the dock, clean the selected scope, and return without a physical obstruction.
After these checks, the Saros 10R is ready for routine full-home, room, zone, or spot tasks using the map you reviewed rather than an unverified default layout.
