Roam works with an iPhone or an Android device, but it must be paired with Apple Find My or Google Find Hub—not both at once. It is a Bluetooth crowd-location tracker, not a standalone GPS tracker: it can report a location when nearby devices on its selected network detect it, so updates may be intermittent when few participating devices are around.
How Roam tracks luggage
Roam’s setup documentation describes it as a Bluetooth tracker that relies on nearby devices in the network you choose to report its location. It does not have standalone GPS or cellular tracking, so it should not be treated as a continuously updating luggage beacon. That distinction matters at an airport: a network may report a location when a compatible nearby device detects the tracker, but the available information does not establish that Roam will provide continuous updates or that every airline’s baggage system will detect it.
iPhone and Android compatibility
Roam supports both phone ecosystems as alternatives. Pair it through Apple Find My for an iPhone, or through Google Find Hub for Android. One tracker can be connected to only one of those networks at a time. Moving it from one ecosystem to the other requires removing it from the current network and pairing it again. Android setup requirements
Roam’s setup instructions specify Android 9 or later. They also call for Google Play Services to be updated, with Bluetooth and Location enabled and nearby-device scanning turned on. Roam Android setup page

Attaching Roam and replacing its battery
Roam says the tracker has a built-in elastic strap for attaching it to luggage and other belongings, so its described attachment method does not require a separate holder. The company lists the device as 33 × 14 mm and 4 g and advertises an IP67 rating; these are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified measurements. Roam product page
The tracker comes with a pre-installed, replaceable CR2032 battery. Roam’s product page gives inconsistent battery-duration claims—“up to a 2-year battery life” and “1+ year battery life”—so neither should be treated as a guaranteed or independently established runtime. Roam product page

What happens if someone finds the tracker?
Roam says each tracker has a unique QR code that a finder can scan without an app to see a custom message. The company also says it can send location information using what3words. These are Roam’s descriptions of the recovery feature; they have not been independently verified here. Roam product page
