Bulk Crap Uninstaller (BCU) is the stronger documented fit if you want to detect and remove many applications in batches; Revo Uninstaller is a better fit if you prefer a guided uninstall followed by a scan for possible leftovers. Revo Pro adds installation tracing and other controls. Both list force-removal and cleanup features, but there is no controlled head-to-head evidence here to establish which is faster, safer, or finds more remnants.

How Bulk Crap Uninstaller works
BCU is a free Windows uninstaller published under the Apache 2.0 license, which permits private and commercial use subject to the license terms. Its project describes a tool built around broad detection, filtering, batch removal, and automation. It says it attempts to call each application’s own uninstaller rather than simply deleting files.

BCU also lists leftover removal, forced uninstall, startup management, uninstaller-certificate verification, configurable filters, and portable operation. Requirements depend on the BCU version. The project repository says BCU v6 supports Windows 10 or newer, though it may work on Windows 7. The installed build requires the .NET 8 desktop runtime; the portable build includes the runtime and does not need a separate installation. The repository says older BCU v5 supports Windows 7 SP1 with platform updates and uses .NET 6. Check the repository for requirements matching the version you plan to run. How Revo Uninstaller works
Revo’s documented standard workflow begins by running the application’s built-in uninstaller. After that finishes, Revo scans for possible remaining files, folders, and Registry entries. Revo describes restore-point and Registry/file backup mechanisms, but backups do not eliminate the possibility of a mistaken or problematic removal. Portable edition
Revo describes its portable version as non-installable and intended for removable drives; it says portable use is activated once. A USB drive is optional if you want to carry the portable edition, not a requirement for using either uninstaller. Revo portable edition details.

Choose BCU for bulk removal and broad detection
BCU is the more natural choice when the job involves reviewing a long list of software or managing applications from several sources. Its batch and automation features can reduce repeated interaction, while its filters and export options help make a large inventory easier to inspect.

Choose Revo for a guided cleanup workflow
Revo’s uninstall-then-scan sequence is a straightforward match if you want to remove an application one at a time and review possible leftovers afterward. Revo Pro is the option to consider if installation trace logs or its additional management and backup controls matter to your workflow.

Use either uninstaller carefully
Leftover scans and forced removal are useful capabilities, not guarantees that an application will be completely removed or that every suggested deletion is safe. BCU’s attempt to use an app’s own uninstaller does not replace reviewing what is selected. Take particular care with system components, runtimes, updates, and shared application data, where removal may affect other software or Windows itself. Revo’s backup options can provide recovery measures, but they are not a substitute for checking selections and understanding what is being removed.
