For a genuinely unattended 24/7 prerecorded YouTube channel, Castr is the better-documented fit of these two. Its prerecorded-stream feature advertises continuous playlist looping on Premium and higher. Restream is better suited to scheduled prerecorded events or bounded replays: its documented loop is capped at 10 repetitions and a 40-hour stream, and its playlists do not loop natively. Neither choice removes the need to plan around YouTube’s archive and monetization rules. Castr prerecorded streaming · Restream looping limits
StreamNeo is the first option to consider for a 24/7 YouTube loop
StreamNeo keeps uploaded videos live on YouTube from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It runs without an always-on computer or OBS, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. For a do-it-yourself cost comparison, see the cloud vs PC cost calculator.

Restream vs. Castr at a glance
| Decision | Restream | Castr |
|---|---|---|
| Continuous prerecorded loop | Documented loop is limited to 10 repetitions and a 40-hour stream. Playlists do not loop natively; duplicating videos is listed up to 40 playlist items. Restream loop limits | Continuous playlist loop is advertised on Premium and higher. Castr prerecorded streaming |
| Channel schedule | Supports scheduled prerecorded events that start automatically; the cited help pages do not establish indefinite unattended channel playout. Restream event scheduling | Separate cloud TV playout schedules programming files and live sources. Its loop schedule has a finite horizon. Castr TV playout |
| Schedule horizon | Not stated for ongoing channel playout in the cited sources. | Premium loops up to 15 days ahead; Ultra and Events up to 30 days. Longer runs go through Castr’s sales team, and operators must extend schedules before they end. Castr TV playout |
| Computer or encoder left running | The documented flow schedules uploaded content; no always-on encoder is specified. Restream event scheduling | Castr says scheduled prerecorded files play from its cloud without a computer or encoder running. Castr prerecorded streaming |
| Best fit | Scheduled one-off events, defined replay loops, or multistream events. | A continuous repeating feed or a channel schedule built from multiple files or live sources, subject to tier and schedule limits. |
This comparison is about prerecorded playout to YouTube, not an independent uptime test. The cited vendor pages describe advertised features; actual availability, limits, and configuration should be confirmed with the provider before purchase.

Choose Castr for a true continuous loop
Castr’s prerecorded streaming page describes a continuous playlist loop on Premium and higher. That is a closer match for a channel intended to keep repeating without an operator restarting each event. If you need a grid with scheduled programming, its separate TV playout product may fit better than the simpler prerecorded loop. Check the exact tier, configuration, and schedule-extension process before committing. Castr prerecorded streaming · Castr TV playout

Choose Restream for bounded scheduled broadcasts
Restream’s prerecorded-event workflow is a reasonable fit when you want an event to start automatically at a scheduled time, a replay with a defined number of repetitions, or a multistream event rather than an indefinite loop. Its help article documents the 10-repeat and 40-hour maximum; it also says playlists do not loop natively. Restream event scheduling · Restream looping limits
Check Restream’s YouTube setup requirements
Restream’s YouTube setup article says the channel must have live streaming enabled and its owner must authorize the connection. It notes a 24-hour wait before first streaming after enablement. Treat this as Restream’s setup guidance, not a universal guarantee about every YouTube account. Restream YouTube setup

What the documented plans and prices tell you
Restream’s prerecorded-event help page, accessed October 3, 2026, lists these add-on figures and limits. They are vendor-displayed prices from that page, not a guarantee of current checkout pricing. Confirm the price, included capacity, and looping eligibility before paying.
| Restream add-on | Listed price | Library capacity and quality listed | Looping listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premier | $39/month | 2 hours; 1080p | No |
| Marathon | $79/month | 4 hours; 1080p | Yes |
| Media | $239/month | 12 hours; 4K | Yes |
These figures do not establish an apples-to-apples total cost for your channel. The right comparison depends on stream count, schedule design, file library, resolution, and Castr’s current tier and configuration. Castr’s cited feature pages do not establish a complete price comparison for that workload.

Keep YouTube archives separate from continuous delivery
A service keeping a broadcast live does not guarantee YouTube will save a complete replay. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a VOD, plan a separate recording or use shorter archive-friendly segments, then verify that your chosen workflow produces the replay you need. YouTube archive guidance

Clear rights before broadcasting
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content, including applicable music rights. A cloud playout tool does not grant licenses for songs, footage, or other third-party material. Confirm those rights before scheduling a loop. YouTube livestream terms

A looping stream does not guarantee monetization
YouTube applies its monetization policy to live streams and says monetized content should be original and authentic, not generic, repetitive, or mass-produced. On July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified its “repetitious content” policy to cover repetitive or mass-produced content and renamed it “inauthentic content.” Reviewers may assess the channel’s overall material, including its main theme, most-viewed and newest videos, watch-time share, metadata, and About section. This does not establish that every loop is ineligible; it means neither Restream nor Castr can guarantee monetization based on playout capability alone. YouTube monetization policies
