How to turn off Safe mode on a Samsung tablet
Samsung’s basic exit method is to restart the tablet. Menu labels and button arrangements can vary by model, software version, and carrier, but you do not need to change a setting or reset the device. Samsung’s Safe mode instructions describe restarting as the way to boot normally.

- Use the notification shortcut, if available: Swipe down from the top of the screen, tap “Safe mode is on,” then choose “Turn off.”
- Otherwise, restart the tablet: Open the Power menu and tap Restart, if that option is shown. If you prefer a full power cycle, tap Power off, wait for the tablet to turn off completely, then press the Power button to turn it on again. Samsung documents the power-off-and-on sequence as an exit procedure in its Galaxy boot-loop guidance.
Some customization options, including wallpapers and themes, may revert to their defaults when the tablet leaves Safe mode, according to Samsung.

What to do if the tablet is frozen
If the screen does not respond and you cannot open the Power menu, Samsung’s restart guidance says to hold the Side and Volume down buttons together for more than seven seconds, until the device restarts. Button names and layouts differ among Galaxy models, so use the combination that applies to your tablet; consult its model-specific instructions if these buttons do not match. Samsung’s Galaxy restart guidance covers this forced restart.

Why Safe mode may come back
Check whether a button is being pressed
A case or accessory may press or cover a button, or a key may be jammed. Remove the case and accessories, then check that the Power or Side button moves smoothly. Samsung identifies a jammed key as a possible cause of device problems and advises removing anything covering the tablet’s buttons. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab troubleshooting guidance covers this check.
Use Safe mode to narrow down an app problem
Safe mode runs the tablet without downloaded third-party apps. If the issue that prompted Safe mode disappears while the tablet is in that state, a recently installed or updated app may be involved. Samsung recommends uninstalling recent apps one at a time, restarting after each removal, and checking whether the issue returns. Its Safe mode guidance explains how to remove downloaded apps.

If the original issue continues in Safe mode, a downloaded app is less likely to be responsible. If the signs point to a hardware problem, Samsung advises seeking professional service rather than continuing to troubleshoot apps. Samsung’s boot-loop guidance describes service as the next step when hardware trouble is suspected.

No—not just to exit Safe mode. Restarting is the normal exit method. Samsung describes a factory reset as a last resort and warns that it removes data and content from the device. Consider one only after other troubleshooting and after backing up anything you need to keep. Samsung’s boot-loop guidance explains the reset risk.
