If you canceled and want Hulu again, sign up with the same login information. If you still subscribe, close and reopen the app, then troubleshoot updates, cache, and your connection. A Hulu + Live TV Home network error needs its own check; it is not fixed by restarting a subscription.
First, identify which Hulu restart you need

How to restart a canceled Hulu subscription
Hulu says a canceled subscriber billed directly by Hulu can return by signing up again with the same login information. Cancellation does not delete the Hulu account. For Hulu-billed plan changes, go to the Your Subscription section of the Account page, following Hulu’s instructions for restarting after cancellation.

Check who bills you
If you are unsure whether Hulu or another company bills the account, open Hulu’s Account page and review Payment Information. Subscribers billed through a third party may need to renew or manage the subscription with that provider rather than through Hulu. See Hulu’s subscription-management guidance.

- Exit Hulu completely. Close the app rather than only backing out of a video, then open Hulu again. The exact way to force-close an app depends on the device.
- Check for updates. Install any available Hulu app update and device-system update. Menu names and update paths differ across TVs, streaming devices, phones, and browsers.
- Clear cache or data if your device offers the option. Use the device’s settings; available controls and their effects vary. Clearing stored data may remove temporary files or require you to sign in again.
- Test the internet connection. Compare a speed-test result with Hulu’s published recommendations below, and consider whether other people or devices are using the connection.
These general steps follow Hulu’s troubleshooting guidance; there is no single menu path that applies to every device.

Check your internet speed against Hulu’s recommendations
Hulu’s published sustained download-speed recommendations, in its guidance published September 28, 2026, are:

These are recommendations, not guarantees of uninterrupted playback on every device or Wi-Fi setup. Hulu also cautions that simultaneous video streams and other internet activity can require additional bandwidth. See Hulu’s internet speed recommendations for current guidance, which may change.

If testing suggests a connection problem, you can try a wired connection if both your device and router support it. That is an optional troubleshooting step, not a Hulu requirement or a reason to buy equipment before trying the free checks.
What to do about Hulu + Live TV Home network errors
For Hulu + Live TV, the Home network determines access to local channels. Hulu says subscribers can change the Home network up to four times in a 12-month period. Mobile users need to check in at Home every 30 days to avoid interruptions to Live TV on mobile. Because changes are limited, confirm that the error is actually about the Home network or local channels before changing the setting. See Hulu’s Home network rules.
