Microsoft’s Paint overview describes these features.
Resize an image in Paint
Resize when you need a new image width or height. If a website, form, or upload gives exact pixel dimensions, enter those dimensions. If you only want to make the picture proportionally larger or smaller, use a percentage.

Open the image in Paint. If you need to keep the original unchanged, save a copy first.

On the Home tab, select Resize.

Choose whether to enter the new size in pixels or as a percentage, then enter the values. Keep the proportions linked if you want to avoid stretching the image.

Confirm the change, then save the edited image.
Pixel dimensions and file size are different constraints. If the destination specifies both, check that the saved file meets each requirement. Microsoft documents resizing by pixels or percentage in its Paint overview.
Crop an image to remove its edges
Crop when you want to keep one part of an image and discard what is outside it. Cropping is not the same as resizing: it removes outer areas rather than scaling the whole picture to new dimensions.

Choose Select and mark the area you want to keep.

On Home, choose Crop.

Save the result, using a copy if you need to preserve the uncropped original.

Zoom the canvas in or out
Use Paint’s Zoom control to inspect fine details or make the canvas more comfortable to work on. Zoom changes the view inside Paint; it does not, by itself, change the saved image’s pixel dimensions.
If you mean that Windows content across the screen is too small, use Windows Magnifier rather than changing the image. Press Windows key + Plus (+) to start Magnifier or increase magnification, Windows key + Minus (-) to reduce it, and Windows key + Esc to close it. Microsoft’s Windows text-size guidance documents these shortcuts.
Add text and change its font

Select the Text tool and click where the lettering should appear.

Type in the text box, then use the toolbar to choose the font, size, and color.

Save the image when you are satisfied with the result.
Which fonts appear depends on what is installed in Windows, so a particular font may not be available on every PC. Microsoft lists text formatting controls in its Paint overview.

For a screenshot, capture it with Snipping Tool and send it to Paint for further edits such as resizing or adding text.

Take a capture in Snipping Tool.

Choose Edit > Edit with Paint to open it in Paint.

Make your changes and save the image. Snipping Tool also supports Ctrl+C to copy a capture and Ctrl+S to save it.

When you mean Windows text or display size
Paint’s text size affects lettering you add to an image. Windows has separate controls for the size of on-screen text and the display layout. In Windows 11, text size is under Settings > Accessibility > Text size; display scaling is a separate setting. Windows 10 and 11 also provide screen-resolution and layout controls. These Windows settings change how content appears on screen, not the dimensions stored in an image file. See Microsoft’s guides to text size and screen resolution and layout.
Basic editing versus newer AI features
Resizing, cropping, zooming, and adding formatted text are ordinary Paint tasks. They do not require a Copilot+ PC. Microsoft’s requirements for certain newer AI features in Paint are separate: those features require a Copilot+ PC and the latest Paint app update from Microsoft Store. Microsoft’s Copilot+ Paint guidance covers those specific features.
