Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 are scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16, 2026. As of October 13, that remake trilogy is still forthcoming—not yet available. It joins a separate set of three Resident Evil games that launched on the console earlier this year: Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition.
Which Resident Evil games are on Switch 2?
There are two distinct groups to keep straight. Capcom announced the remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 for Switch 2, with an October 16, 2026 date shown in an announcement on the official Resident Evil Portal. On October 13, the date was three days away. The portal announcement provides the date and titles; it does not establish technical specifications or other release details.

The other group—Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil 7 biohazard and Resident Evil Village—launched for Switch 2 on February 27, 2026. Capcom announced the date and titles, and Nintendo confirmed the launch, including the 7 and Village Gold Editions. Capcom describes Requiem as the ninth main-series installment. These are not the remake trilogy.

Capcom reported more than 174 million cumulative Resident Evil game sales as of June 30, 2025, in its September 16, 2025 Switch 2 announcement. That figure puts the console releases in the context of a long-running series, but it does not tell you how these particular versions perform.

What to expect from Requiem
Nintendo describes Requiem as following FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and agent Leon S. Kennedy. Its listed gameplay includes combat, investigation, puzzles and resource management. Players can also switch freely between first- and third-person views, and choose optional difficulty levels. These descriptions apply to Requiem, not automatically to the three remakes.
Nintendo says Resident Evil 7 and Village can each be played before Requiem, in either order. That gives newcomers a choice: start with either of those earlier games or go directly to the newer installment. The announcement does not say the remakes must be played in a particular order.

Choosing an edition or bundle
Nintendo announced a Resident Evil 30th Special Pack containing Requiem Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. The standalone games and the pack are different purchase options; check the current regional listing for its exact contents, price and availability before buying. The available announcement does not establish current stock or pricing.

Optional controller and amiibo
Nintendo also announced a themed Switch 2 Pro Controller and Requiem amiibo featuring Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy. These are optional accessories, not requirements to play the games. Nintendo says the amiibo unlock exclusive weapon skins. Confirm regional availability and the exact product listing before purchase; the announcements do not establish current stock.

Nintendo’s February 27, 2026 launch article said version 1.1.0, a Day 1 update containing several fixes, was available at launch and advised players to apply it. That is a launch-period note, not confirmation of the current software version; check the game’s update information on the console for the latest patch.
