It is not a high-frame-rate gaming tablet: independent testing found demanding Genshin Impact averaged 27.3fps even at the lowest tested setting. Choose it for size and light play, not because 120Hz means every game runs at 120fps.
Is the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 good for gaming?
It is good for lighter games and less demanding play, but its entry-level graphics hardware limits demanding titles. Xiaomi specifies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 processor and Adreno 610 GPU for this model. In Notebookcheck’s tests, Dead Trigger 2 averaged 57.6fps and PUBG Mobile averaged 47.6fps; those results are specific to the reviewer’s test setup and can vary with game updates, settings, software and thermals.

For Genshin Impact, Notebookcheck measured an average of 27.3fps at the lowest tested setting, with a range of 9–36fps. At the highest tested setting, it averaged 17fps, ranging from 5–19fps. The review says the tablet did not reach the game’s 60fps potential in its test. These are useful indicators of the performance ceiling, not guaranteed results for every player or session. Notebookcheck’s game test provides the test context.
Does 120Hz mean 120fps?
No. Refresh rate is how often the display can update; frame rate is how many frames the device and game actually render. Xiaomi lists a refresh rate of up to 120Hz for supported apps and games, while qualifying that the experience depends on the app. A 120Hz panel can make supported content and interface motion look smoother, but it cannot make the processor render frames faster than it can manage. A game may also impose its own frame-rate cap.

What makes the 9.7-inch model different?
The Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is a distinct compact model, not a smaller-screen version with the same internals as the 11-inch Redmi Pad 2. Xiaomi lists the 9.7-inch tablet with the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 and Adreno 610; the larger model uses MediaTek Helio G100 Ultra. Check the exact model name before comparing specifications, buying accessories or reading a review.

How does it compare with other budget gaming tablets?
There is no established universal winner across budget tablets: available comparisons do not provide current, matched game tests and prices across markets. Compare the exact model you can buy locally against actual game results, rather than treating screen refresh rate, a processor label or an aggregate score as a gaming ranking.

| What to compare | What is established for the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 | What to check on alternatives |
|---|---|---|
| Game performance | Notebookcheck’s selected results: Genshin Impact averaged 27.3fps at its lowest tested setting; Dead Trigger 2 averaged 57.6fps; PUBG Mobile averaged 47.6fps. | Look for results in the same games at comparable settings. Aggregate performance scores are not equivalent to matched game tests. |
| Screen and size | 9.7-inch, 2048×1280 display with refresh up to 120Hz. | Decide whether a compact screen or a larger play area matters more, and check the actual refresh rate. |
| RAM and storage | Xiaomi Singapore lists 4GB RAM with 64GB or 128GB storage; Xiaomi advertises expansion up to 2TB. | Compare the exact memory configuration and usable storage. Extra storage accommodates more games but does not improve frame rate. |
| Battery and charging | 7600mAh typical capacity and 18W charging are specified by Xiaomi Singapore. | Compare capacity and charging claims for the local model; real endurance depends on the game, brightness and network use. |
| Connectivity | Wi-Fi and 4G versions exist in some markets; Xiaomi Singapore lists Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 for its Wi-Fi specification. | Check the precise SKU, supported cellular bands and whether mobile data is useful for your play. |
| Price, warranty and support | Notebookcheck reported an approximate US$190 MSRP and Amazon listings on its review page; these are time- and market-dependent, not a current universal price. | Compare today’s local street price, seller, warranty and software-support terms. |
The larger Redmi Pad 2 is a useful size-and-specification comparison, but NanoReview’s aggregate scores are not controlled gaming tests. Its comparison indicates the 9.7-inch model is more compact and has the higher refresh rate; it does not establish that either is the better gaming buy. See NanoReview’s comparison.

Samsung’s US Galaxy Tab A11+ page describes an upgraded chipset, up to 8GB RAM and gaming and productivity positioning, with a displayed US price from $299.99 before trade-in. Who should buy it—and who should look elsewhere?
Buy it if
- You want a compact 9.7-inch tablet for casual gaming, media and general use.
- You value a high-refresh display for supported content, while accepting that demanding games may run well below 60fps.
- The exact model’s local price, storage configuration and warranty make sense for your budget.
Compare stronger options if
- Your priority is demanding games at consistently smooth, high frame rates.
- You are choosing between it and another tablet primarily on gaming speed; find game tests for the same titles and similar settings before deciding.
- You need more RAM, cellular connectivity or a larger screen; verify each alternative’s exact regional configuration rather than assuming the product name tells the whole story.
Should you buy the 64GB or 128GB version?
Xiaomi Singapore lists both configurations with 4GB RAM. The 128GB model provides more room for installed games and downloaded media, while the 64GB model may suit lighter use if its lower local price is worthwhile. Xiaomi advertises microSD expansion up to 2TB, but confirm card support and formatting requirements for the specific regional model. A memory card can add storage; it does not upgrade gaming performance. Xiaomi’s product page describes its expansion and case features.

What should you check before ordering?
- Exact model: Make sure the listing says Redmi Pad 2 9.7, not the 11-inch Redmi Pad 2. Do not assume a case for the larger tablet will fit; choose one whose seller explicitly names the 9.7-inch model.
- Regional configuration: Confirm Wi-Fi versus 4G, RAM and storage, cellular bands if relevant, warranty, seller and return terms. Xiaomi’s listed specifications and bundles can vary by region.
- Current price: Treat Notebookcheck’s approximate US$190 MSRP and referenced Amazon examples as historical/contextual listing information, not a live price quote. The review identifies 64GB and 128GB listings, but stock, seller, regional software and warranty can change.
- Game expectations: Look for recent tests of the games you actually play. Results can change with game version, graphics setting, thermal conditions, software and test method.
- Accessories: A compatible microSD card or correctly named case may be useful for storage or protection. A Bluetooth controller is optional and depends on your preferred games; the cited sources do not establish a particular controller as necessary or officially compatible.
