India Today’s September 17, 2026 review praised those strengths and the phone’s IP69K rating, but found performance average and the cameras less convincing. Battery capacity and specifications also vary by market, so check the exact regional model before buying.
At a glance: strengths and trade-offs
| What stands out | What to weigh |
|---|---|
| Large 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, according to India Today’s review | Performance was adequate for routine tasks but could falter in longer sessions and gaming, according to the reviewer |
| Very strong battery endurance in the review unit’s everyday-use routine | Camera results were usable for everyday photos, but the reviewer said they could be better, particularly in difficult conditions |
| IP69K protection is among the device’s advertised durability features | Battery capacity, charging terminology, features and configurations vary by regional product page |
India Today’s Armaan Agarwal rated the phone 7.5/10 and listed a starting price of Rs 36,999 in India at the time of publication. That is dated India pricing, not a current price for every market or seller. India Today’s review

How good is the display?
The reviewed handset has a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Agarwal said it remained legible outdoors during his use, making the screen a strong fit for browsing, video and everyday media. That is a reviewer observation, not a standardized brightness test; the display’s real-world visibility can also depend on settings and conditions. India Today’s review
Battery life: the main reason to consider it
Battery capacity is not uniform across the product pages. Xiaomi Global lists an 8,340mAh typical silicon-carbon battery, while Xiaomi India advertises 9,000mAh. Confirm the capacity for the exact regional SKU you intend to buy rather than treating either figure as universal. Xiaomi Global specifications · Xiaomi India product page

In India Today’s review, Agarwal said his review unit generally had about 45–50% charge remaining at bedtime after social media, web browsing, navigation and Bluetooth use. He suggested similar use could make it a two-day phone. This is one reviewer’s account of a particular routine, not a controlled endurance benchmark or a guarantee for other users.
Xiaomi India’s claim of “3.5+ days” applies to light use in Xiaomi Internal Lab testing. It is a manufacturer test claim, not the independent reviewer’s result or a promise of typical battery life. Xiaomi India product page

Xiaomi Global lists 67W HyperCharge and up to 22.5W wired reverse charging. Xiaomi India describes 67W TurboCharge and 22.5W reverse charging. Performance: fine for routine use, less reassuring under load
The Global specification page lists a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. In India Today’s use, everyday tasks were handled, but longer sessions could strain performance and gaming showed frame drops. These are reviewer observations, not results from a standardized performance or gaming benchmark. If gaming stability or sustained heavy workloads matter more than battery capacity, compare same-market alternatives using tests of the exact configurations available where you live. Xiaomi Global specifications · India Today’s review
Cameras: usable basics, not the phone’s clearest strength
Xiaomi Global lists a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 16MP front camera. India Today’s reviewer found the cameras capable of usable everyday images but still counted them among the phone’s drawbacks, noting shortcomings in difficult conditions. Megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality; look for sample photos from the regional model, especially in low light and with moving subjects, if those are important use cases. Durability and software support
Xiaomi India lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings and describes test conditions on its product page; India Today also cited the IP69K rating as a positive. These ratings describe defined resistance tests, not permission to ignore the phone’s use conditions or warranty terms. Check the exact market’s warranty language before relying on water-damage coverage. Xiaomi India product page · India Today’s review
Xiaomi India states support of four years of OS updates and six years of security updates. Who should buy the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G?
- Consider it if battery endurance, a large high-refresh-rate display and routine media use matter more to you than top-tier gaming or camera performance.
- Compare carefully if you play demanding games, take frequent low-light or action photos, or need a particular network feature. Check results and compatibility for the exact regional model.
- Check the seller listing for current local price, RAM and storage, battery capacity, included adapter, warranty, update commitment and any promotional bundle.
For a meaningful comparison with other phones in the same price tier, compare like with like: same-market prices and configurations, battery results under similar use, outdoor display readability, sustained gaming performance, difficult-condition camera samples, dimensions, update commitments, durability terms and charger-in-box status. The India Today price of Rs 36,999 is a historical India reference, not a substitute for checking today’s local price. India Today’s review
