Which phone has the better camera?
The published specifications suggest different strengths, not a proven image-quality winner. Xiaomi’s India page gives the Note 14 Pro+ a dedicated 50 MP telephoto camera with 2.5× optical zoom, in addition to its 50 MP main and 8 MP ultra-wide cameras. That is a useful hardware distinction if you often want a tighter composition without relying only on digital zoom. Do not assume this configuration applies to every regional Note 14 Pro+.

Xiaomi’s UK specifications for the Note 17 Pro Max list a 50 MP OIS main camera, 8 MP ultra-wide, and 32 MP front camera, plus 4K recording at 30 fps from both front and rear cameras. The cited UK list does not include a telephoto camera. Megapixel counts, optical stabilization, and video modes describe capabilities; on their own, they do not determine photo quality in varied lighting or compare processing reliably.

Xiaomi’s India and Indonesia pages identify the Note 14 Pro+ chipset as Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. The cited Note 17 Pro Max specifications do not establish a dependable processor comparison, and there is no comparable benchmark evidence here. A speed ranking would therefore go beyond what these sources show.
Durability: read the water and drop claims carefully
Xiaomi India describes the Note 14 Pro+ variant on its page as IP68-rated. Xiaomi Global lists multiple IP ratings for the Note 17 Pro Max and describes SGS-certified drop resistance up to 3 metres onto granite. The Note 17 Pro Max’s underwater camera mode is not permission to use the phone as an underwater camera without limits. Xiaomi says it is “Limited to static freshwater use at a maximum depth of 2m for up to 30 minutes.” The same page warns that underwater mode does not extend the phone’s water resistance and recommends a professional waterproof case for underwater use.
