The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G is the newer phone, while the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G has faster-rated wired charging and a higher-resolution main camera. In Xiaomi’s UK specifications, the Note 17 Pro 5G has a larger screen and a much higher typical battery capacity; those figures do not, by themselves, prove better screen quality or longer real-world battery life. UK prices also depend on configuration and offer dates, so the available listings are not a like-for-like price comparison.
What is the difference between the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ and Note 17 Pro 5G?
The Note 17 Pro 5G is the newer generation: Xiaomi announced the international Note 14 series on 10 January 2025, while its UK Note 17 series promotion began on 17 September 2026. The comparison below uses the UK Note 17 Pro 5G specification, not the China-market model.

Which has better battery life or faster charging?
The Note 17 UK model lists an 8,340mAh typical silicon-carbon battery, substantially higher capacity than the Note 14 Pro+’s 5,110mAh review specification. Battery capacity is not the same as measured runtime: usage, display settings, software and other conditions affect how long a phone lasts. No matched independent battery test is available here to establish an endurance winner.

Wattage alone does not establish how long either phone takes to charge; comparable timed tests would be needed. The Note 17 also lists wired reverse charging up to 22.5W. It ships without a power adapter, so account for a compatible 67W charger if you want to use its stated charging capability.

Which phone has the better cameras?
The Note 14 Pro+ review specification lists a 200MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. Xiaomi lists a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultrawide for the UK Note 17 Pro 5G. Megapixel counts do not settle image quality; sensor and lens characteristics, processing and shooting conditions matter. TechRadar reviewer Dashiell Wood tested the Note 14 Pro+ for over a month, praised its display and charging, and described its camera results as inconsistent. That is an observation about the reviewed unit, not a matched comparison with the Note 17. No directly comparable independent review establishes a camera-quality winner.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do Note 17 Pro 5G specifications vary by region?
Yes. Xiaomi’s UK Note 17 Pro 5G page lists an 8,340mAh typical battery, a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. A report on the China-market Note 17 Pro describes a 9,000mAh battery and different camera details. Do not apply those China-market figures to a UK phone; confirm the exact model number and local network-band support before buying an imported listing. The China-market report is from Cinco Días / Smartlife, 15 July 2026.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider the Note 17 Pro 5G if you want the newer generation, larger listed display and higher stated battery capacity, and its UK configuration and current price suit you.
- Consider the Note 14 Pro+ 5G if a lower current listing for the particular configuration you want is available, or you value its higher rated wired charging speed and 200MP main-camera specification.
- Before paying more for either, check current like-for-like prices and the exact regional model, memory/storage, warranty, network bands and box contents. There is no matched performance, camera or battery test here to support declaring one phone the overall winner.
