There is no identified Xiaomi-wide campaign that proves a promotion under the exact name “Redmi A3 Budget Phone Promotion.” Current evidence consists of retailer and marketplace snapshots, including about $94.99 for a 3GB/64GB unlocked listing, about $99.99 for other 3GB/64GB listings, and about $117.84 for a 4GB/128GB listing. These prices can change and do not establish a permanent MSRP or an official Xiaomi discount.
Examples include the approximately $94.99 3GB/64GB listing, another 3GB/64GB listing around $99.99, and a 4GB/128GB listing around $117.84. Treat each as a dated seller offer, not a guaranteed Xiaomi promotion.
Check these details before checkout
- Exact RAM, storage, color and model number.
- New, refurbished, used or open-box condition.
- Seller identity and whether the seller is authorized.
- Whether a coupon, membership, financing or carrier activation is required.
- Shipping, tax, import charges and the cost of a separate charger.
- Warranty provider, return period and who pays return shipping.
- Promotion end date or “while supplies last” language.
A marketplace “factory unlocked” label describes the seller’s claim; it does not prove compatibility with every network.

What you gain for the low price
Large 90Hz display
Scrolling and supported animations can look smoother at 90Hz than at 60Hz. The panel remains HD+, however, so small text and fine images are less crisp than on Full HD+ phones. Refresh rate can vary with apps, battery settings and software; 90Hz does not guarantee smooth performance in demanding games.
Long battery endurance
The 5,000mAh battery is a genuine strength for calls, messaging, browsing and video. Xiaomi quotes up to 26 days of standby, 29 hours of voice calls, 130 hours of music playback and 17 hours of video playback under its own test conditions. Actual endurance depends on signal, brightness, apps and usage.
Useful everyday hardware
- USB-C rather than an older charging connector.
- microSD expansion for photos, music and videos.
- Headphone jack and FM radio.
- Side fingerprint reader for quick unlocking.
- Large screen suited to reading and streaming.
Where the promotion hides compromises
Charging is slow
Maximum 10W charging is modest by current standards, so a full recharge takes patience. Xiaomi also says the power adapter is sold separately in some regions. Confirm the box contents and budget for a compatible USB-C charger if necessary.
Entry-level performance
The processor and 3GB base model are aimed at calls, messaging, social media, web browsing, streaming, music, navigation and light apps. Expect slowdowns with many apps open and do not buy it as a demanding-gaming phone. Camera hardware is similarly basic; it is suitable for casual snapshots rather than dependable low-light or zoom photography.

“Up to 8GB RAM” is not 8GB of physical RAM
Xiaomi’s 4GB model can use memory extension to advertise up to 8GB total. The extra capacity is storage-based virtual memory and depends on available storage and configuration. It cannot deliver the same performance as a phone with 8GB of physical RAM.
4G-only connectivity
The Redmi A3 has no 5G modem. That is acceptable where 4G coverage is strong, but a newer 5G phone may offer better long-term value if its price is close.
Which Redmi A3 version should you buy?
4GB/128GB: the sensible choice
Choose 4GB/128GB when its price premium is modest. Additional physical RAM helps basic multitasking, and 128GB internal storage gives substantially more room for apps, photos and updates. A microSD card is useful for media, but it does not replace faster internal storage or physical RAM.

3GB/64GB: only for the lowest-cost role
The 3GB/64GB model makes sense for very light use, a temporary handset or an emergency backup when it is meaningfully cheaper. It is more likely to reload apps and run out of internal space.
Will an imported Redmi A3 work in the United States?
Do not assume so. Some U.S. listings describe particular imported variants as compatible with T-Mobile, Mint, Tello or other GSM networks, while also telling buyers to confirm compatibility. For example, see the seller information at this listing and this listing. Those claims apply to the specified model, not every Redmi A3.

- Compare that model’s LTE bands with your carrier’s published requirements.
- Confirm VoLTE support and any 4G-shutdown requirements.
- Use the carrier’s IMEI or device-compatibility checker when available.
- Ask whether Wi-Fi calling, visual voicemail and other carrier features are supported.
- Verify that the seller accepts returns if activation fails and identify the warranty provider.
A SIM-unlocked phone can still lack the bands, certification or VoLTE profile required by a network. “Global ROM” and “factory unlocked” are not substitutes for this check.

Xiaomi’s global product page promises two Android major updates and three years of security patches, with timing subject to region, model, carrier and rollout. Because the phone launched in February 2024, buyers in September 2026 are purchasing well into that promised support window rather than at its beginning. Package contents vary by market. Xiaomi’s regional specification page lists the phone, adapter, USB-C cable, SIM eject tool, quick-start guide, warranty card and safety information, while noting that contents can differ: Singapore specifications. The global page separately warns that an adapter may be sold separately in some regions. Confirm the specific listing rather than relying on photographs.
When the deal is worthwhile
Good reasons to buy
- You need a very inexpensive phone for calls, messaging, streaming and browsing.
- You value a large display, long battery life, headphone jack and microSD slot.
- The 4GB/128GB model is close in price to the 3GB/64GB model.
- Your carrier has confirmed the exact model’s LTE and VoLTE compatibility.
- The phone is new, returnable and covered by a clear warranty.
- You are buying a backup or short-term device.
Reasons to pass
- The final price approaches a newer 5G or officially supported budget phone.
- The seller will not identify the model, condition or return terms.
- You need fast charging, strong cameras or demanding-game performance.
- You require several years of fresh Android and security updates.
- Imported-stock warranty and carrier support are unclear.
Redmi A3 versus better-supported alternatives
Compare the final checkout price—not just the advertised discount—with current alternatives. Samsung’s official Galaxy A-series page provides a clearer U.S. purchase and support path, though current models generally cost more. A used or refurbished Redmi A3 on Swappa may cost less, but condition, battery health, accessories, warranty and carrier compatibility must be checked listing by listing.
As practical guidance, a Redmi A3 is an excellent bargain only when it is substantially below $100 with confirmed compatibility and return protection. Around $100 can be acceptable for a suitable 3GB/64GB backup or a well-priced 4GB/128GB unit. At or above roughly $118, compare newer 5G and officially supported phones before buying; these are editorial thresholds, not official prices.
Bottom line
The Redmi A3 offers a large 90Hz HD+ screen, a 5,000mAh battery, USB-C, expandable storage and a headphone jack at a very low entry price. Its 10W charging, basic performance, 4G-only modem, modest cameras and aging support window limit its value. Buy the 4GB/128GB version when possible, verify the exact imported model with your carrier, and proceed only when the final price and return protection clearly beat newer alternatives.
