Back up your old phone before you start. During the REDMAGIC’s initial setup, connect to Wi-Fi, choose the option to copy apps and data, and follow the prompts to transfer directly from another phone or restore an available Google backup. Then check for a system update in Settings. Exact setup screens and firmware for the REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ can vary by market; confirm device-specific instructions with REDMAGIC support before installing software manually.
Before you start: back up and prepare both phones
Use the old phone’s backup before migration so you have a fallback if the direct transfer is interrupted or misses data. REDMAGIC documents Google Drive backup at Settings > System > Backup > Back up to Google Drive; menu names can vary with the device and software version. See REDMAGIC’s backup instructions.

- Charge both phones and make sure you can unlock the old one.
- Connect to Wi-Fi and sign in with the Google Account used for your backup.
- Check that the new phone has enough storage. Google’s transfer flow lets you choose which data to copy if space is limited.
- If you plan to transfer by cable, check that the cable supports data and fits both phones. An adapter may be needed; wireless transfer is an alternative.

Transfer from another Android phone during setup
Start the copy process during first-time setup if possible. Google notes that the transfer option may not be available once setup is complete. Its general Android instructions support both cable and wireless transfer, but the exact screens on a REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ may differ. Follow the prompts shown on your device rather than assuming a particular menu label.

- Turn on the new phone and begin setup.
- Connect it to Wi-Fi when prompted.
- Choose the option to copy apps and data.
- Choose a cable or wireless transfer, then follow the instructions on both phones. For a wired transfer, connect the devices with a compatible data cable and adapter if needed.
- Select the data you want to move and let the transfer finish before disconnecting the phones.

What may transfer—and what needs checking
Google says the transfer can copy apps and some app data, music, photos and videos, phone and SIM contacts, text messages, most phone settings, wallpaper, and call history. A phone-to-phone copy is not a complete clone. Check these items separately after setup:

- PDFs and other downloads, plus media stored in hidden folders.
- Apps installed outside Google Play, and data from apps that do not use Android backup.
- Non-Google accounts and their data, along with contacts or calendars synced through other services.
- Ringtones and some settings.
- WhatsApp chats and data: Google says these restore from cloud only if backup was enabled on the old device.
Move from an iPhone
REDMAGIC’s FAQ describes choosing the old Apple or Android phone during setup and copying apps and data. Keep both devices connected until setup finishes, as Google advises in its switch guide. Not every iOS app or item is guaranteed to transfer.

- Turn off iMessage on the old iPhone so you can continue receiving texts on the new phone.
- For iCloud photos and videos, REDMAGIC’s FAQ points users to transfer them to Google Photos.
- Follow the prompts on the devices and check important photos, contacts, messages, and app accounts after migration.
Restore a Google backup if the old phone is unavailable
During setup, choose the restore option and sign in to the Google Account that holds the backup. You need working account credentials and an available backup. The setup flow may also ask for the old phone’s PIN, pattern, or password. Google describes the process in its Android switch guide.

Check for a routine software update
Once setup is complete, use the phone’s system update screen to check for an available update. REDMAGIC’s support instructions describe checking Settings > System > About phone for the build number and identify Settings > System update for a local update package. These are general instructions, not confirmation of the 12 Pro+’s exact menu wording or current regional firmware. For device-specific guidance, consult REDMAGIC’s update page or support for your market.
Do not manually flash a ROM without confirming the exact match
A manual local ROM installation is different from checking for a routine system update. REDMAGIC says its manual global-ROM process wipes the device, so back up first; it also instructs users to charge the device to at least 50% and select software for the correct device and location. The company warns that flashing incorrect software can void the warranty.

Do not assume a package for another region or REDMAGIC model is suitable. Confirm the exact model, region, and package with official support before proceeding. If you cannot verify the match, do not flash it.

REDMAGIC’s software update policy lists “REDMAGIC 11 Pro & Newer” for two generations of Android OS updates and three years of security-update support from product launch. The policy says timing, version, and frequency vary by region, carrier, and model, and that OTA updates roll out in batches. The policy category does not establish a specific update date or current build for a particular 12 Pro+; check the schedule and availability for your market with REDMAGIC.
