A Reddit user says they called in sick with stomach flu to take a Friday trip to Coorg, appeared in the background of a dance reel at a homestay, and received a pointed message from a skip-level manager the following Monday: “Hope your stomach is better.” The account has circulated online, but the post and news summaries do not independently verify the people, workplace, reel or reported consequences.
What happened in the Coorg sick-leave reel story?
In a post on r/antiLinkedIn titled “Pretended to be on sick leave & got caught,” the anonymous author said they told a manager they had stomach flu so they could take Friday off for a trip to Coorg. The author said they later appeared in the background of a dance reel filmed at a homestay. [Original Reddit post]
According to the post, a skip-level manager sent the reel on Monday and wrote, “Hope your stomach is better.” That wording is quoted as the author presented it; the message has not been independently authenticated. The post does not identify the employee, employer or original Instagram reel.
What did the boss say, and what does the post claim happened next?
The five-word message attributed to the manager was: “Hope your stomach is better.” The post’s author said they remained employed, but that no later work-from-home requests were approved. The post does not establish that the message caused those decisions, or that the employer had a policy of denying WFH requests.

Why is the story circulating again?
Hindustan Times covered the same Reddit account on May 28, 2025, showing that the anecdote was already circulating then. [Hindustan Times coverage] The Times of India published another summary on October 1, 2026, reporting that the reel had crossed 13,000 likes. [Times of India coverage] That engagement figure is reported by the post and coverage, not an independently verified current count; the later article is a resurfacing, not evidence the incident took place in 2026.
What can readers conclude?
The account illustrates how a public social-media appearance can attract workplace attention, but it remains a viral anecdote rather than a verified workplace case study. The claimed sick day, reel, manager’s message and later WFH outcome come from the Reddit author; the cited news articles summarize that account rather than independently confirming it.
