REDasm is a free, GPL-3 disassembler and binary-analysis tool with an interactive GUI and an extensible analysis engine. It targets hobbyists and professional reverse engineers. It is beta software, and it is not a decompiler: it shows you disassembly, graphs, strings and cross-references, not reconstructed source code. Official prebuilt binaries exist for Windows and Linux. Current status
The project website describes the software this way: “REDasm is beta-quality software and it does not represent the final product.” At the time of the latest check (October 2026), the site listed v4.0.0-beta3, with a Linux x86-64 AppImage and a Windows x86-64 ZIP both dated 2 September 2026. Earlier betas appear on the site dated 5 August and 23 June 2026. Check the release page for anything newer. Expect rough edges and changes between builds. (redasm.dev)

What REDasm can do
The documented GUI features, per the website and README, include:
- An interactive disassembly listing with renaming, comments and typed data.
- Function-level control-flow graphs synchronized with the listing.
- Navigable cross-references and navigation history.
- String detection in ASCII, UTF-16 and Latin-1.
- A type system and an integrated hex view.
- Panels for segments, imports, exports, symbols, strings and problems.
- Saved projects, patching, and export of analysis data.
- Light and dark themes.
Under the hood, the engine uses RDIL, an architecture-neutral intermediate language used for analysis and lifting. The project is split into a GUI, an engine, and plugins loaded at runtime. The core exposes a C API.

Supported formats and processors
The site lists common PE and ELF binaries, some legacy formats, and console/retro formats. Processors include x86-family, MIPS, ARM-family, Z80 and MOS6502. Support is not uniform: the site attaches maturity labels to each loader and processor.
- Production-ready: PE/PE32+, ELF/ELF64, x86/x86-64, MIPS.
- Highly stable or functional: ARM/Thumb and several other entries.
- Lower maturity: some retro targets.
Before relying on REDasm for a particular file, check that exact format and CPU on the site’s list rather than assuming general coverage.

Installing and verifying it
The site offers Linux and Windows release packages and also describes nightly builds. Package-manager routes listed include an official Scoop bucket, an Arch AUR package, and Pentoo packages. The site says release builds come with SHA-256 files and matching signatures on GitHub, and it gives verification instructions. Verify the download against the files for that exact release before running it, which matters especially for a tool you may point at untrusted binaries. (redasm.dev)

Does REDasm have a decompiler?
No. The README answers “Not yet.” Building blocks such as RDIL, function boundaries, basic blocks and a type system exist, but decompilation is a long-term goal. If you need pseudo-source output today, REDasm is not the right fit. (README)

Extensions are currently written in C against the core’s C API. A Python plugin API is on the roadmap but is not available now. The repository FAQ also covers running REDasm headless as a library; consult it for the current answer. (README)

Quick Recap
- Format and CPU: is your exact target listed, and at what maturity label?
- Platform: do you need official binaries, or can you build from source?
- Workflow: do the listing, graphs, cross-references, projects and patching cover what you do?
- Extensibility: are you fine with C plugins and no Python yet?
- Decompilation: if required, REDasm does not currently provide it.
- License: GPL-3 allows free use and modification, with the usual copyleft obligations if you distribute derived work.
