ReclaiMe File Recovery runs on Windows, not macOS. It may be used to scan Mac storage only after that storage is attached to a Windows PC, and Apple filesystem support requires the Ultimate edition. The right license otherwise depends on the source filesystem and whether the recovery involves a supported RAID or NAS configuration.
What ReclaiMe File Recovery does
ReclaiMe is Windows-hosted data recovery software. The vendor says it can recover files from internal and external drives, USB drives, memory cards, disk images, DAS, Windows RAID and many consumer NAS devices. Its advertised use cases include deleted files, unformatted drives, RAW filesystems, boot failures and photo recovery. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independently verified recovery-rate results.

The vendor also advertises previewing recoverable data before recovery finishes and lifetime updates and support. The official product page states: ReclaiMe data recovery software needs Windows to run. It does not run on Apple Mac OS. To recover data you need to attach your Mac storage to a Windows PC.

Can ReclaiMe recover files from a Mac drive?
Potentially, but it does not run on a Mac. The Mac drive must be connected to a Windows computer, and the edition must support the drive’s filesystem. ReclaiMe Standard covers Windows filesystems; Ultimate adds Apple APFS, HFS and HFS+. The vendor recommends Ultimate for a disk from an Apple Mac. ReclaiMe edition guidance
#1 Best Overall
- Easily store and access 2TB to content on the go with the Seagate Portable Drive, a USB external hard drive
- Designed to work with Windows or Mac computers, this external hard drive makes backup a snap just drag and drop
- To get set up, connect the portable hard drive to a computer for automatic recognition no software required
- This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
- The available storage capacity may vary.
Before connecting a drive, consider whether you can avoid writing to it; further writes may overwrite deleted data. For important or physically failing media, avoid treating recovery software as a substitute for professional help.

Deleted files, formatted drives, and recovery workflow
The vendor lists deleted-file recovery and recovery from unformatted or RAW filesystems among its supported use cases. That does not guarantee recovery: results depend on the device’s condition, whether data has been overwritten, and the extent of filesystem damage. No independent recovery-rate or benchmark figure is established here.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Connect the source to Windows. ReclaiMe must run on a Windows computer; for Mac, Linux or NAS media, confirm filesystem and configuration support first.
- Choose a safe destination. Use a separate drive to store a disk image or recovered files rather than writing recovered data back onto the source. The manual says the demo can create a disk image; an external drive is a practical place to store one or the recovery output. ReclaiMe manual
- Scan and review. The vendor says the software can preview recovered data before recovery finishes. Confirm the files you need are actually recoverable before proceeding.
- Save recovered files elsewhere. Keep output off the affected source device to reduce the risk of overwriting data that may still be recoverable.
NAS, RAID, and unsupported configurations
ReclaiMe advertises support for many consumer NAS devices and several RAID scenarios, but the word “RAID” is not enough to determine compatibility. The official matrix distinguishes supported, Pro-only and unsupported arrangements; check the exact controller, layout, filesystem and configuration before purchasing.

- The matrix marks encrypted devices, Storage Spaces Direct, UNRAID, VxFS, SAN and ZFS with deduplication unsupported.
- Some advanced RAID, Apple Fusion, Drobo BeyondRAID and forensic cases are Pro-only or unsupported.
- For an ordinary memory card or USB thumb drive, vendor support guidance says Standard is normally sufficient; for a Mac, Linux server or NAS disk, it recommends Ultimate, subject to the matrix’s exceptions.
How to judge whether ReclaiMe fits your case
Match the tool to the recovery source, not just the file type. Verify the Windows-host requirement, filesystem and exact NAS/RAID arrangement, then compare the license duration and current price. If the matrix identifies your configuration as unsupported—or the needed feature as Pro-only—do not assume Ultimate alone will cover it. The vendor’s capability descriptions are not a substitute for an independently measured success rate.
